Sounds like we would have gotten along. I didn't get my Wii until late 2007, but I had exact change ready in an envelope for the first store on my call list that had one in stock. Meanwhile I was playing a lot of GCN and DS, and even convinced my family to get a DS with Brain Age for my grandfather!

I'm enjoying this new gmail feature for the most part, but come on Google, it's Sunday. It ain't getting here today.

I was editing a promo tape capture and came across the perfect response:

I still love the fact that this exists too. They had a few other cartridges too, like translation software! Pretty forward thinking for the time.

The fact that Nintendo decided to explain the shift to 3D by introducing a Lakitu holding a diegetic camera will always be delightful to me.

I was today years old when I learned that you can do a sliding kick in a Super Mario 64.

RIP Moorwing. First you beat me, then I beat you, then you made a beat for all of us. This is the kind of glitch that makes the game experience better, not worse. 🤣 #silksong

Best runback so far, perfectly fitting inside the 30 second limit of the Switch 2’s recording feature.

This tape was an absolute nightmare, so many damaged and shaky segments. Fortunately as a point of sale tape it contained the same video looped like 8 times, so I was able cut up all the versions and stitch together something that plays mostly fine. Gaze upon this image and share my suffering.

Just digitized a Sonic the Hedgehog 2 VHS that kicks off with this delightful clip. I know how vicious the console wars were here in the USA, but it's interesting to see what that competition between SEGA and Nintendo looked like in Japan too!

I'd never seen a V-Lite VHS before digitizing this tape. Was absolutely terrified it was going to fall apart in my VCR and I'd have to surgically transplant the actual tape into a different cassette, but fortunately everything worked out in the end!

For anyone curious what the tape is, it's a Japanese promotional #VHS tape for a #PS1 game called 3D Mission Shooting Finalist! It was released in the US under the name Tunnel B1. Here's a preview:

Why I always capture a tape multiple times: Each layer is a separate capture of the same tape, synced up and overlaid on itself. Those yellow sections are places where the footage was shaky or damaged. Sometimes it's messed up in every capture, but other times one cap has issues but another is fine!

Just found a 1945 silver dime in the tray of a coinstar machine at the grocery store! I shudder to think how many of his brethren got just got processed for face value, but glad I was able to rescue this one!

After procrastinating maintenance on my VCR for a literal year, I FINALLY got it done this past weekend and celebrated the occasion this morning by capturing one of my favorite video game ads from the early 2000s. Top notch joke, no notes.

Last year #Phillies player Kyle Schwarber announced his favorite childhood video game was Super Smash Bros. That made him my favorite player. Meant to do this sooner, but the anniversary of Smash 64 is a perfect time to reveal this logo mashup. I might do other variations down the line too! #philly

Running into Dead Hand in 1998 was terrifying. I still maintain that this creature is the scariest thing Nintendo has ever and will ever make.

In case anyone needs a laugh, I was just reminded that this grade school laugh is actually a real thing.
