I still remember the first time a man interrupted/talked over me in a work meeting. Had not really happened living as a guy. Gender-affirming misogyny is real
sometimes my boss will over-explain things to me that i already know, and i can't tell if he just has a tendency for that or if i'm experiencing a misogyny moment. the "would i have experienced this pre-transition?" question is seemingly eternal

new @relentlesspicnic.com available now, for free.
this episode is about music — how we mishear it, how we can be sure we hear it at all, how a demon can take hold of you and use you to produce it, and how sometimes instead of music there's the mass-market autobiography of a beloved '90s actor.

I've just published a new userscript that remembers the path of your cursor over the linked pages of Wikipedia, averaging and wearing them into the page, showing your browsing history over time

time doesn't function in any sort of linear way in this universe. it's not the vision of a futurist - but of a lost idealist, holding out hope that dream could some day be revived. that's why i feel like even stuff like this video are appropriate uses of BoC music www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ik1...

often think about why Boards of Canada are so important and inspiring to me, and i think it's: their music always sounds both like some idea of the "the future" and "the past", where both are constantly intermingling and little to no differentiation. this is the way i approach technology in general

the earliest depiction of Christ’s crucifixion is among the ruins of a Roman palace turned messenger boy’s school - a student mocking one of his Christian classmates with a doodle of a boy praying to a donkey-headed figure on a cross captioned “Alexamenos worshipping his God”

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume
An unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume angrily confronted Santa Clara city officials during a joint meeting of the City Council, city authorities, and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority on Monday, using his public comment to condemn the city’s stance on cooperation with ICE.

"Arguments against a primary interpretation are forced to insert themselves into its definition of ‘what is at issue’ - they must begin from this framework of interpretation as their starting-point."

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step.

1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.
