RIP James Van Der Beek, whose greatest role was, of course, himself. Not for him the cheeky cameo: on Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23" the man turned self-ridicule into a full-time occupation, and did so magnificently.

Bud Cort and James Van Der Beek on the same day. Fucksake.

I'm not a makeup person, but I am a person who likes to match my nail varnish to the colour of the boat I'm in, and Barry M are consistently good for that. Now what am I gonna do?!

Why is nobody asking if “severe” rain is over diagnosed when it is part of natural weather variation? Instead of flood warnings, people should be helped to find dignity through labour with a compassionate approach to getting those in a temporarily submerged lifestyle back into the workforce.

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail

Watching Small Prophets with my breakfast and I'm immediately taken with it. Pearce Quigley is very likeable, and it's the sort of nice gentle humour with mild absurdity you'd expect from Mackenzie Crook. It's all on iPlayer, if you can't wait until it's on proper TV tonight.

The Olympics is just jock Eurovision, isn't it. All these cute little interludes about the host country

Instead of watching the opening ceremony, today I've been on trains for the past eight hours trying to get from London to Edinburgh, which takes four hours. And I'm not there yet.

Spain has effectively made the argument that their economy NEEDS migration. They don’t have the hostile environment which every govt. has kept despite Windrush promises. This could be us if we weren’t cooked.
Why Spain is breaking the mold in Europe -
choosing regularisation instead of MAGA mass deportations!!

Two reasons: morality & pragmatism.

Look, I made some pasta and I'm very pleased with myself (spinach dough, salmon and ricotta filling, cured egg yolk grated on top)

A thing I love about @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social is that they'll casually put on a four hour long non-narrated documentary about a restaurant, and it'll be 75% full and nobody leaves early.

I poured my heart out about Marty Supreme, Jewish identity, why the Old Testament isn’t the same book as the Torah and what it takes to survive trauma

Marty Supreme is the most intensely Jewish movie I’ve ever seen in my life, and I ended up writing 5,000 words about it. buckle up.

Recently, I got a notice from my new pharmacy provider that they wouldn’t cover my thyroid medication and bizarrely suggested insulin instead! I need my thyroid medication. Then a couple of days ago, they called and told me to disregard the letter they had sent. AI is such a time and labor saver!
