Any authors/artists feeling weird about doing self-promotion right now: I'm actually kind of begging you to bring some of your unique creation to my timeline.

Not just as a distraction, but because art is a tool for building empathy--it's the way we learn to see the world through other eyes.
"Books for sale!" is basically a timeline cleanse at this point. It feels like hitting a save point inna video game and being able to breathe for a moment.

Absolutely massive turnout at the ICE Rapid Response training in Pittsburgh tonight, hosted by Frontline Dignity. Over 500 people showed up, including dozens from out of county & out of state.

“.. He cared about people deeply ..,” said Michael Pretti, Alex’s father. “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong ..”

Alex Pretti was an intensive care nurse in the Veterans Administration Health Care system.

“He felt that doing the protesting was a way to express his care for others,” his dad said.

Genuinely the only thing keeping me going—but it really is keeping me going—is how good it is to see people link arms and push for this to end.

I cannot stop thinking about how much love people can have for their neighbors, and how much work and money is poured into breaking that love apart.

As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

I know a lot of like, normie lib white parents who never went through a radical protester phase in college or anything, who ever since 2020 have been teaching their kids that making signs and then going out to protest against injustice is a thing we do together as a family. it feels like a big shift
Gotta remind yourself not to cry when you see the kid's signs.

It's negative -25°F and tears are dangerous.

Oh hey it's release day for The Poet Empress by @dragons.bsky.social! I was lucky to receive an e-audiobook ARC. It was an emotional roller coaster with the perfect ending. It balances discussions of empathy, forgiveness, and accountability, with morally compromised main character. I loved it!

Beyond the fact that this bugfuck insane letter was written and sent to the leader of Norway, the State Dept agreeing to distribute it to other heads of state instead of objecting and honorably resigning or at the very least planning some kind of coverup is a sign of deep institutional collapse.
So this is why Trump is fixated on Greenland. Vengeance strikes again. This guy is dangerous.

How much of Trump's Greenland obsession is about wanting to punish Denmark, which possesses Greenland, for not giving him the Nobel peace prize, even though the Nobel organization is headquartered in Oslo, the board consists of Swedish and Norwegian citizens, and Denmark is not a factor
President Trump now linking his pursuit of Greenland to not winning the Nobel Peace Prize, even though the Nobel Committee is designed to be independent of Norway’s government (appointed by parliament).
