From Book 2 of my #Atlantis trilogy.
She’d never felt so small. She’d never felt so fragile. She’d never felt so—desperate. Kena. Desperate to reach out and touch a hand in the darkness, and find reassurance that she wasn’t alone here after all. Desperate to feel that something still meant something, that life still had something supporting it. Desperate to do something—to do everything—before she lost her chance and it was all ripped away from her forever. Kena. It was all so absurdly fragile—all of it. She saw that now. She’d had a glimpse of it before when her father died, but the truth of it hadn’t really flattened her back then the way it was doing now. It had all always been fragile. Yet what had she been doing all this time? Playing silly games, procrastinating, telling herself “someday,” or “maybe tomorrow,” or “eventually.” Assuring herself that there was no need to act now because it was all inevitable anyway. Debating with herself over pointless philosophical questions about fate and free will when it didn’t really matter, did it? The only thing that mattered was that it was all going to end, one way or another, maybe sooner, maybe later. The only thing that mattered was reaching out into that abyss and finding a hand to grasp so that you knew you weren’t really alone. Kena.

I didnt even have to wordsearch this cuz I knew it was in the first few pages of the mystery…
She wasn’t looking forward to this. A half-hour after leaving the arch, Talia sat in her little blue hatchback, procrastinating. The car had taken on the muggy funk of the six hour journey from Milwaukee, but she was reluctant to get out despite the promise of fresh air. The triangular parking lot at the Little Kyoto was mostly vacant, which didn’t speak well for the quality of the food. She wasn’t here for sushi, anyhow. The restaurant was within walking distance from her college best friend’s house in his leafy suburb. Former best friend. The less time she had to spend with him, the better, and she would want a quick getaway if his wife showed up. Seeing Elle again would be the last thing she could stand right now. The lot would at least provide a better escape route than his shady driveway. It was neutral territory and she’d have a good view of her car from a distance. Dark haired, with a deep olive complexion across sharp features and small, canny eyes, Talia had a naturally intense look. Her current moodiness, thinking of the unpleasant reunion, only enhanced the effect. She dawdled some more, absently twisting her nose piercing and double-checking the messages she’d received from Dr. Lloyd

Virgil pushes himself to reach the Forest home of the Sheltri.

- From Brother’s Keeper, first book of my fantasy WIP about two brothers bound by a misunderstood power.
The afternoon waning, Virgil continued PROCRASTINATING his decision on a camping spot. Over every rise he half expected to see the Ninurtan hills and vales open below him, the lush grasslands and forests, the gleaming rivers and beyond them the bluish Lago Mountains sheltering the Forest, the home of the Sheltri. Every time, it was not so. Moreover, he knew it couldn't be. The actual push to the top had not yet begun. And yet visions of Sheltria from a distance filled his thoughts. He'd a steep bowl yet to traverse and a high mesa to cross, not far beyond where the sheepherders were wont to bring their flocks and wagons. And as he climbed, cresting stepwise hillsides, he saw darkness gathering over the west as well as behind him in the east. The sun, lowering directly into his eyes, seemed drawn into it. Black clouds inhaled the sunlight and snuffed it all, leaving only thin blades of fire limning their edges. Brother's Keeper A.C. Turek

None are considered greater than another, and no path in life is considered beneath respect. Until 200 years ago, when another wave of Humans suddenly arrive in this world from another. These people bring with them their One True God, their Savior, along with a fear and rejection of the peoples of the Alliance, their Gods, and all that they stand for. After a city is built for them, they lock the gates and send out only a few of their number every seven years to convert any they can to their ways. Now the Sovereign of the Alliance, in a bid to draw these Faithful into greater society, has finally managed to secure their participation in the All Gods Festival. Neither of them felt like sleep, though it was late, so Hal brought out his chess set. The ancient game was one they had played often, though Bronwyn was not very good; she adored the pieces however. The set Hal owned were of Dwervic make, shaped from solid lumps of pure iron, which required periodic polishing and coating with oil to keep from rusting. The Dwarves believed in the value of having to maintain something for its own sake. Neither master or apprentice were paying much attention to the game, pushing pieces around from time to time while listening to the storm outside. Bronwyn was a few moves away from losing; she saw that clearly, though no avenue to escape presented itself, so she played only to prolong the game and put off going to bed.

There is a small combined elementary and middle school. That's it. The small village heavily focuses on trades over education (think farming, metalworking, woodworking) and so after middle school, children are expected to help their parents...

There's not really any danger going on. It's a small village. However, there's no police or fire department around either, because it's a really small village. All the villagers kind of look out for each other, or don't, if you cross them.

The house of the village elder would be the closest to this. There isn't really a city hall, it's a really small village. The closest thing to politics in the village is probably just the drama the farmers have with each other. At least in my current draft.

At the very start, we get introduced to Mitali, who lives in a war-torn city full of abandoned, blown-up buildings. However, he quickly moves to a small, rustic village on the outskirts of the country. This is where Sam lives too.

You saw that, she bumped into me on purpose.” Av’ry gave her a withering look. “Alright, alright.” Fox raised her hands. “Best behavior. But you had better go. Don’t want her getting the wrong idea and taking it out on you.” “Oh, it’s not so bad.” He smiled slyly. “I kind of enjoy her taking it out on me, if you know what I mean.” Fox shook her head. “You’re exhausting; you do know that, right?” “It’s come up.” He chuckled. Fox sighed. “Go get some sleep. I need you sharp tomorrow.” “Yeah, yeah.” Av’ry rolled his eyes, but he nodded as he strode off towards his tent. Fox watched him go for a moment, then turned away, chewing her lip thoughtfully as she regarded her own tent. She couldn’t put off rest forever, but that didn’t mean she had to like it.

For Sam, it's probably all of her sylvan features. Sylvans are an elf-like species shunned in my universe, and Sam is half-sylvan and half-human. These physical features include freckles, elf-like ears, and pale skin. It helps visualize her but also tells us how she feels about herself.

Spent a long time today working on my #questpit pitches and moodboards. I think I finally have them ready for Friday!

I'll be pitching my passion project, the one I'm currently drafting — a cozy fantasy. As well as two slow burn romances that I'm currently brainstorming/plotting in my head.

Not exactly.

Mitali is much too wrapped up in what happened in the past and also just to focused on surviving the present to think about an overarching life goal. Really all he wants is to go back to the past. Before the war happened, before he lost his parents.
