This is a major reason to be careful w/ language.
Things can be very very bad - but if they're routinely described something substantially worse, people don't worrying about it. Tey can see it's not as bad as what's being said about it.
We see this w/ anti-drug campaigns. And wannabe fascists.

We don't see that happening in Minneapolis etc. We the people still have agency to oppose the fascist intentions and behaviors. And this is just what people are doing--in public, on social media etc. In a fascist state, that would not occur.
