We have First Snow! Not even any Warning Flakes this year, just woke up to white on the ground.
So of course, my neighbour is out with his leaf blower. 🙄

Once a stage manager, always a stage manager - but there are some times I wish I could turn it off.
When there is a sick performer on stage, for example, and I am in the *audience* and cannot do anything about it. 😔

I hate the title of this. With one or two exceptions, it’s just “have you done a list of extremely normal everyday activities” from 30ish years ago. Yes, I’m over 40, thanks for asking?
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).
I am teh oldz.

My utter menace of an orange cat, who last week refused to eat for FIVE AND A HALF DAYS (and whom I syringe fed for three and a half) (we are not even going to talk about the vet bills😭) is currently climbing across me to try to get at my toast. All food is for him now.

I highly recommend both the TV show and the podcast. It will make you laugh and fill you with unspeakable rage at the same time. And somehow the fact it's a Canada/Australia co-pro makes it even better.
This is such a well made and interesting show, and available on CBC Gem. Stuff The British Stole gem.cbc.ca/stuff-the-br...

The British Empire stole a lot of stuff. Those objects are housed in museums and galleries across the world. We peel back the true histories behind those objects - and meet those who want them back.

Watching an old Mythbusters where they test the difference between dry balls and humid balls in baseball.
And there is NOT A SINGLE INNUENDO in the whole 42 minutes.
I wonder how much footage ended up on the cutting room floor to achieve that… 😂 And I bet the outtakes are AMAZING.

Surely, SURELY, it is time to weaponize “snowflake” back at them.

Today will mostly be adventures in syringe-feeding a 17-pound orange cat.
I am already wearing more food than has made it in his mouth.

Home from the vet. It’s 4am. And I just remembered I don’t have a toothbrush. 😭

Since I wasn’t going to be able to sleep anyway, we are at the vet. They won’t let me go in with him and I’m not happy about it.

Also, what the fuck is a “hop”? I’ve stood in the same room as Steven Spielberg and the King of Spain (not at the same time). Are those considered hops? Because that cuts a swath…
Off the top of my head, in terms of degrees of separation I managed to get from myself to *Jimi Hendrix* in "three hops," this is a WILD assertion to make

Why do I have nothing but lines from League of Their Own in my head tonight?
“Lay off the high ones.” “I like the high ones!”
“[He] hit the cream cheese out of that one!”

Fellow cat owners - my orange boy hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning and I’m not sure when to start panicking. He hasn’t barfed since about 4am. Clearly still nauseous. Tired and miserable but no other symptoms. No obvious pain points. Litter box seems normal.

All the stories I hear coming out of this centre kindness - donating to charities, supporting players from the opposing team. And the vibe in Toronto is amazing right now. I hope it's the same in LA. I'm not really a sports person, but this is such an amazing example of what sports can be and do.
Best World Series in years and so needed in 2025. Just the most incredible, talented, LIKEABLE two teams, filled with astounding immigrants from literally everywhere, great fun fans, no bad blood just some top notch motherflippin’ baseball.
This has been the best World Series maybe since 2001. It's only fitting that two future Hall of Famers face off against each other in game 7. I wrote about yesterday, today, and how MLB got everything it wanted and more: mollyknight.substack.com/p/world-seri...

I have a confession: I'm not a baseball fan. And yet, I am now 100% invested in the outcome of this World Series.
Why? Because the stakes changed.
Which has led me to think a lot about what stakes actually are.
