Hello Canadian Producers and Showrunners! 🇨🇦

I’m an experienced story coordinator, soon to finish up my second season on the critically acclaimed Netflix/CBC/APTN series NORTH OF NORTH, and open to work in the new year!

Let me introduce myself... 🧵
Sometimes dreams do come true. Sometimes it takes 35 years and every imaginable dimension of your life has changed completely. But this week I’m remembering my 12-year-old self and the posters on her walls. Her mind would be absolutely blown.

Hey @feelcanadian.com! Congratulations on your WGC nom! That's awesome!

I'm doing a bit of digital housekeeping today. Apparently it has been 35 days since my last backup.

So friendly reminder for everyone, today is a GREAT day to back up your files!

Ok, the down side is that I just re-borked my hip in a deeply unpleasant fashion. The up side is I have now identified the stretch I need to never EVER do again. 😬😭

Compared to gingerbread cookies, shortbread is SO much less of a faff, OMG. I’m debating making a second batch in pure celebration, but I WILL regret that when I’m rolling the damn things out. 😂

When I finished shovelling the walk, I spent a good 20 minutes digging little channels in the slush of the road so the meltwater could get to the nearest drain. All the fun of playing in a sandbox and the satisfaction of doing my civic duty. Highly recommend!

Making gingerbread cookies today, so it’s time for the annual softening of the brown sugar. 😂

Heading out to the shops on the last Saturday before Christmas… Pray for me. 😂

I just watched Wake Up Dead Man.

Are we shipping Jud and Blanc? Is that a thing?

On the most recent season of Platonic (Apple), one of the characters develops a catchphrase for her podcast: “Don’t ask, don’t get.” There’s some truth to this in Hollywood but only some. So this week’s #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on FAVORS. When/when not to ask and what to ask for.

Gifts for People You Hate 2025: Boycott Friendly Edition
Once again, I started working on this before Thanksgiving and once again it’s now well into December and I still haven’t gotten this up. Look, it’s been a busy couple of weeks tha…

Two more #TVwriting resources to add to the list. Both of these have been helping enormously as I work through notes and extensive rewrites on a pilot.

One book and one (yes another) podcast episode.

I need a procrastination project, so you’re getting a #TVwriting resources thread!

Podcast episodes, articles, blog posts (mostly podcast episodes), organized by subject, for as long as I can maintain it.

Off we go...

I got sidetracked again - this time raking leaves in a windstorm! (At least my procrastination is productive?)

In my defense, I got notes on a script last night that were brutal but fair, which are both the best kind and the worst kind. So it's taking a bit of an emotional run-up to dive in today.
In a new procrastination low, I apparently just decided that cleaning the bathroom and *starting my taxes* was better than sitting down to write.

SO. I'm going to dive into some pomodoro-timed WRITING SPRINTS! Anyone who wants to play along, jump into the comments.

First one starts 11:15am EST!

Ongelooflijk.

It’s Dutch, but it is the best word.
Let’s all go around the table and say one word we’re thankful for.

I wish this were true! (The first day of Christmas music part, not the Santa thing.) I got Whammed in a grocery store two weeks ago. Out of the game and it wasn’t even mid-November!
As today is the first day many people start to play Christmas music, let’s take a moment to remember the special message behind so many of our seasonal holiday favorites:

Santa fucks

We used to toboggan down the slope of a ravine. Multiple trees. Slope so steep we often couldn't get back up it with the toboggan. At least one tree fallen across our path that, with the snow, created a jump mid-slope. Looking back, I am ASTOUNDED no one died. 🤣 Had the BEST time, tho.
I’m sorry but I can’t stop laughing, yeah we would sled down hills in the winter with whatever we had on hand, toboggans, crazy carpets, tubes 😂 someone always got injured because of jumps on the hills or wipeouts #Canada

Slings and Arrows - an artistic director in the midst of a mental health crisis takes over a rep theatre

X Company - Canadian spies in WW2 (SO GOOD)

Pure - drug-running Mennonites

Pretty Hard Cases - women-led buddy cop comedy

Cardinal - murder mystery (brutal but stunning)
Orphan Black, Continuum, Travelers, Letterkenny

There are lower-budget ones too, all honor and glory to their name, but these are the ones that are top of mind for me
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

The oak tree in my front yard waited until the morning of the last yard waste pickup (today) and then dropped every single one of its leaves at once. 🤣😭

Some of these movies are actual comedies. And some of them are comedies the way certain Shakespeare plays are comedies - like, well, there was a wedding at the end and no one died, I guess? So, sure, “comedy”, why not.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

This whooooole thread. Up and down.
And again, the “battle of the sexes” in terms of preventing harm from the other has largely been against men trying to remove women’s autonomy so women have no chance of harming them

Vs

Women trying to impose consequences for harm men actually do
