I have a new story out! "This Great Rumble" is about a friend breakup and a messianic cat colony. Muad'Dib? More like Meow'Dib!
It makes me so depressed when men don’t have any style. And it doesn’t have to be a style i personally like, honestly it’s just hot when people TRY something out. Like they are so pretty, why don’t they care????

“Wish there was a novel that mixed crime, horror, and magical realism but with really strong anti-imperialist/anti-colonialist vibes…”

Say what?! Oh, you’re not gonna believe this…

So this story has been out for something like 8 hours.

The idea has existed in one form or another since 2017.

And after rereading it this morning, can I tell you what I keep getting verklempt about? One of my favorite Bits that kept me believing in this one, even through a long stint of burnout?
"Out of habit, I rub the pad of my thumb along my bottles’ corks. All properly stoppered, shut tight. Through the glass, the winds feel warm and cold, soft and terrible, each one unique."

11. If your story makes me say "What the hell did I just read?" when it's in the submissions queue, that's a real strong indicator that it's probably gonna move further along in the process. Case in point, "This Great Rumble" by @katelechler.bsky.social

Statler: I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil.

Waldorf: I'm crying at how bad this show is!

Both: OH HO HO HO HO HO HO!
Most of Gandalf's lines also work if spoken in the voice of Statler or Waldorf.

And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, said he would buy the flowers himself.
And Tiny Tim, who did not die, had the time of his life, no, he never felt like this before, yes I swear, it's the truth, and he owes it all to Scrooge
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, where the shadows lie, One Tim to rule them all, One Tim to find them, One Tim to bring them all, and in the darkness, bind them.

This Christmas, I have just one wish for you:
Take a moment to really see the older people in your life.
Let them know they’re loved, valued, and never invisible.
Share a smile with an elder you don’t know.
Offer a warm holiday greeting.
Small gestures carry enormous power.
Love,

Lynda 🎄✨

my mom put on a different (live) version of a beloved Christmas song and I immediately yelled "why is there CLAPPING" with such utter disdain

Going home is exciting though bc my sister is addicted to funding kickstarters for niche skincare and wellness products, having them shipped to my parents house, then trying them once or completely forgetting about them, so it’s like a free trip to Weird Sephora.

Things my dad has explained to me so far today:
Antique malls
The new bridge in town
The apps on his TV
Having fires outside
How he keeps squirrels out of the bird feeder (genuinely interesting)
How to use the sink upstairs
The existence of a restaurant I’ve been going to for 35 years

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.
