Family reunion is always an internal conflict issue for social conservatives: they value both family life (at least for people who meet their social norms) and immigration control. But they must choose between the two. The UK govt has chosen the latter: working class people have no family reunion.
The minimum income rule is going up to £37,500 for British citizens to live with their spouses and partners. This is twice the national minimum wage. A lot of people simply cannot afford it.

We have to be clear here: Changes to graduate visas and further immigration restrictions are an existential threat to UK HE. The time has long passed for universities UK and UCU to take a unified position and clearly and directly articulate the impact on UK universities.

I’m an immigrant in the UK from a country that has historically taken large numbers of immigrants. That probably explains why I just fundamentally don’t accept the premise that immigration to the UK is “too high.”

BREAKING: SAG-AFTRA has voted to authorize a strike against 10 of the biggest video game companies.

An overwhelming 98% voted in favor of authorizing a strike.

The union now has the authority to call a strike for video game voice actors.
