“This Bill is not only abhorrent and irresponsible - it is a direct affront to the Treaty relationship between our Nation and the Crown.”

Onion Lake Cree Nation also condemning Smith’s rewriting of democracy in Alberta!

“Treaty rights are not subject to popular vote, and cannot be reinterpreted or overridden by provincial legislation. We unequivocally reject any legislative mechanism that attempts to do so.”

Confederation of Treaty 6 First Nation would also like a word with Danielle Smith…

Let this be a warning to you all: nobody steals my charts and gets to be Prime Minister of Canada
insanely funny to have the likely future Prime Minister of Canada just take my chart and intentionally crop out the watermark where I say I made it lmao

Poilievre's actual announcement today:

he'd amend the Criminal Code to give police power to charge people for living in a homeless encampment or a tent city

He said these are places where "half-dead, contorted bodies lie on the ground on the verge of overdose from fentanyl"

Compassionate!! /s
Watching Pierre Poilievre’s press conference in Hamilton right now, and his speech has devoted extended amounts of time to repeating two debunked claims:

1) that the Liberal platform was written for Trudeau (it wasn’t, Janyce McGregor already fact checked this)

Thanks CBC North on why I choose to exercise my right of self-determination to vote in federal elections. Participating in colonial forms of governance as an Omushkego-Eeyou Two Spirit is a practice of harm reduction. Our inherent & treaty rights can be advocated for through multiple pathways.
Voter turnout in Eeyou Istchee is traditionally low. Some hope this election will be different | CBC News
In 2021 federal election, Eeyou Istchee saw a 17.7 per cent voter turnout compared to 63.5 per cent for the province as a whole, according figures from Elections Canada.

CTV's Judy Trinh has been nothing but professional as a journalist in the nine years I've read her reporting here in Ottawa. She's been respectful in Indigenous spaces. He's been performative.
Poilievre just called CTV News’ Judy Trinh a “protester” because she dared try to ask him a question outside of the incredibly rigid four-questions-no-follow-up process his party has.

Very cool stuff
