It's just occurred to me that I never actually introduced myself on Bluesky.

- I read voraciously, and write when the caffeine level is right.
- I am a social democratic who believes in economic justice and a fairer society. 1/?

Primary Schumer whenever possible.

Typically, voting is whipped bts, so party leadership is never surprised & they can correlate how votes will go.

A single opposing vote against party intent is a surprise. 8 is a planned move.

Either Schumer knew & approved or can't control his own team.

I would love to see this issue raised in national and provincial politics.

Our democracy is undermined when our local news ends up being rolled over in corporate news media ownership.

Especially Post-Media Group.
The destruction of local news is really one of those stories that needs to be told and understood. It is undermining local democracy in hundreds of different ways.

I've been watching @kimkelly.bsky.social from up here in Canada write about the working class (and metal! 🤟), and she's 100% right.

The loss of venues for working class and leftist voices in mainstream media only further deepens the pit for North America.

Manufactured consent is the goal.
It’s truly scary how few mainstream publications are willing to publish working class voices and perspectives (let alone leftist ones), and every one we lose is yet another blow to the fragile hope for a better world

Look at how much fear is being dumped onto @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social in NYC by both the right-wing and centrists.

His crime, exactly?

Speaking up against a system that is failing everyone, yet no one in actual power dares to admit that systematic reform is needed?

Two outs away for a championship win for the Jays. Absolutely heartbroken, but our team did great overall.

It's surprising to have to explain to folks that there is no victory in a nuclear war or even limited small-scale nuclear exchange in 2025.

There is only suffering w/ the further creation and testing of nuclear weaponry.

One modern nuke will cause the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history.

As a unionized worker in Ontario, I 100% support a general strike in Alberta.

Albertan workers built Alberta - don't let authoritarian politics tear it down. Stand up, link arms, and shut it all down!

Solidarity and courage, friends.

One of the things you learn quickly in studying democracy is that slides into authoritarianism always, ALWAYS, attack trade unions. And according to 2024 International Trade Union Confederation Global Rights Index, Canada is a Regular Violator of workers/trade union rights.

Premier Smith of Alberta is a disgrace.

Using the Notwithstanding Clause to force workers back is disgusting. Same tactics as Doug Ford here in Ontario.

I hope Albertan workers are watching, and I hope the unions call for a general strike.

Disgrace of a Premier.

Telling that Jefferies waited to endorse Mamdani until the last minute.

It looks like US democrats know that change and reform needs to happen and that power needs to return to the people, just seems like no one has told party leadership yet, eh?

Socialism remains a boogeyman in North America.

The AWS outage exposes again that “the cloud” isn’t magic, it’s infrastructure. The issue isn’t a cyberattack, it’s architectural over-reliance on a handful of cloud giants. We centralized the internet and then made our entire lives dependent on it.

Fuckin AWS.
Would be great if we didn't centralize massive portions of internet infrastructure under Amazon.

That being said, I feel for the nameless admins at AWS who must be shitting themselves right now.
