Popping back in from maternity leave to wish everyone a Happy World Jellyfish Day! 🦑🪼I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the jellyfish representation in baby stuff, but we still have a loooooong way to go to rival cats 🐈! 😂

The OG tech bro does what tech bros are good at: swooping in and making proclamations on subjects they don’t know much about, and their hordes of admirers blindly follow. This always causes more harm than good and diverts energy and resources from what’s truly important. #listen2experts #dontlookup

A thousand times yes!!!
“Toderian says it’s easy to be distracted by futuristic innovations…‘The real solutions are a lot less sexy and a lot more common sense,’ he says. ‘It’s not about utopia. It’s about practicality in the context of the real challenges we face. Tech won’t save us if we get the fundamentals wrong.’

Y’all here is a fun fact: Portland has a brand new volunteer organization called “operation inflation” that allows people to borrow inflatable costumes for protests. They just started a couple weeks ago and have like a 160 costume library (and counting because people keep donating).

Not just kids, but people of all ages and abilities too. At some point in our lives, we’ll be disabled (and cannot drive); it’s only a matter of when. That’s why I focus on providing safer cycling and pedestrian infrastructure in my community so that everyone can independently explore their world.
The number of children injured or killed by cars while walking or riding a bike has fallen steadily since the 1970s, but CDC researcher note that this decline is not because streets are safer, but because fewer kids are out and about in the first place.
Kids need freedom. Dangerous roads make it hard to grant it.
Bigger cars, distracted drivers and worried parents mean fewer kids are roaming freely.
