if you took my advice last year and bought used leather pants, wore those leather pants, and then resold them on eBay, you would have made more money than if you invested in bitcoin

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

A thing that is funny about the moral grandstanding by Repubs re: Christopher Columbus is that nobody knew or cared about him 100 years ago. His "holiday" is barely 50 years old and was pushed through by Italian-American lobby groups in response to...anti-immigrant prejudice.

Even in Elon Musk’s denial of his involvement with Epstein—which directly contradicts the available evidence—the world’s richest man is still claiming he knew all about “pedo island” and didn’t do anything to stop it. Even in their fantasies of innocence they’re still directly enabling child abuse

Many game studios have "shadow production", in which someone sets up a parallel (but functioning) system of organization to compensate for the inadequacies of whatever methodology the actual producer insists on employing; thus requiring an act of continuous translation between the two.

I got a few too many NDAs keeping me from commenting on how bad managers can break a game quickly
I reposted this, and then saw some discourse in the replies, so here's my take: big games absolutely need managers and producers. In fact, as I've grown older, more of my time is spent on being a manager and producer. But I think the underlying sentiment here is: trust the people in the trenches.
I know several games made solely by programmers, I know none made only by project managers.

A producer who cannot tell design teams "You do not have time or resources for this" or "You are blocking everyone by not doing your assigned work" is also damaging. Production is emotionally hard work, and there's a lot of egos that make it harder
A good producer is absolutely an incredible force multiplier and allows the folks who are creating the actual artifacts to be more effective.

A producer beholden to methodology or who does not understand the needs of the game they're working, however, can do irreparable damage very easily.
