I wonder what went wrong when; when 80" TVs, that used to be absolute luxury items, became dirt cheap and housing became unaffordable.

If you’re a game developer and want to cut needless CO₂ emissions:
cap your framerate to 30 FPS while the game is paused or in menus.
Many players leave games idling for hours, and some menus still render at full GPU load.
