Australia has long had preferential voting, and it is the best system for safeguarding our democracy.
Why preferential voting is superior to first past the post

I'll get there, on my rewatch, eventually. Just finished The Motion Picture, so it might be a while

I think I prefer V1, it's sexy
February 4, 2026 at 1:15 PM
I maintain that once V'ger reaches Earth the film actually gets compelling and, dare I say it, good.

It's just the lead up to this point is drawn out with an undue focus on special effects

Up to Star Trek: The Motion Picture in my Star Trek rewatch. The Slow Motion Picture, Where Nomad Had Gone Before, and all that.
And yet, I still have a fondness for this film, as it along with Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, were my introduction to Star Trek

Since 1966 there had been at least one Star Trek project in every decade.

I'm not a cultural troglodyte, of course I got the reference, but the reference makes no sense in this context.

What's wrong with that, though?

I've only thrice met Star Trek series I didn't like (Voyager, sort of, Picard (specifically season 3), and Very Short Treks).

Why would Spock's ass be America's ass? Spock isn't from America, nor does he represent it.

You...hate Star Trek...?

Is this what The Onion has been reduced to? Reality has far surpassed even the most biting and scathing satire that they've had to steal articles from their future selves

Star Trek: The Animated Series (which is canon! fuck you (except The Slaver Weapon, it's too weird to reconcile, Kzinti are still canon though)), in keeping with its antecedent forebear, sure does love to repeat its musical stings and motifs, so much so that is now stuck in my head.
I wish it wasn't

Isn't that treason?
Foreign countries are bribing our president to sell out the American people.

Trump family businesses made $187 MILLION from this deal, and just months later he gave the UAE some of our most top-secret AI tech.

They are selling our national security to the highest bidder.
