Just out here tryin’ to enjoy some things
Beer Advent Calendar Day 10: Long Strange Trip from Kickstand Brewing! This is a Belgian triple that pours light with some carbonation and a long-lasting head. Complex with each sip interesting. It’s 9.9% but you’d hardly know it (well, after a couple you might). A terrific beer well worth trying!

Beer Advent Calendar Day 9: Wingman Tropical Storm IPA! From Brewdog Brewing, which while made in Columbus, OH, is part of a chain based in Scotland. An imperial at 8.5% that’s strong with tropical fruit flavors. I’m not a big fan of the very sweet flavors, so I didn’t enjoy this one as much.

Beer Advent Calendar Day 8: Ferndale Project Summer Blues! A double NE-style IPA from Detroit’s Eastern Market Brewery Co. Hazy and made with Galaxy and Mosaic hops. 8% and fairly fruity and the brewery tells us it passion fruit and blueberry. Not really my thing, but that’s more me than the beer.

Beer Advent Calendar Day 7: Old Nation’s Flat Brain Red IPA! A malty IPA counter balanced with citra hops. A lovely deep red, rich and tasty at 7.2% with a nice finish. The key here (imo) is how superbly they execute that balance between the malt and the hops. Really well done!

Beer Advent Calendar Day 6: I Got A Rock Kettle Sour! Another fine entry from GR’s Arvon Brewing. This is a fuity, sweet, very approachable beer at 5%, bursting with flavor. Not knowing quite what to expect, this surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. Another great beer from Arvon!

Beer Advent Calendar Day 5: Blue Wing from Arvon Brewing Co.! A a “West Coast Style” double IPA. Light body and a little haze, big foamy head, lots of hops, with all the flavors you’d expect. Very tasty!

Beer Advent Calendar Day 4: Bell’s Two Hearted IPA! A classic in the style and a flagship beer of my hometown brewery. Made with centennial hops, it’s piney, a bit of grapefruit, and comes in at 7%. A go-to beer for me, consistent and solid, like meeting up with an old friend after a long week!

Beer Advent Calendar Day 3: Brewery Vivant’s Wizard Burial Ground! A “bourbon barrel aged quadrupel ale.” A Belgian style, it’s got the body of an ale with malty goodness. At 11.5%, it’s a doozy, but a tasty one.

Beer Advent Calendar Day 2! Stone Brewing’s take on a Hazy IPA. Juicy and citrusy, but not really that hazy. Light and refreshing with El Dorado, Azacca, and Sabro hops. 6.7% ABV and very drinkable. A good, solid, flavorful IPA but not especially unique. That can is some eye candy though!

It’s that time of year again! Beer Advent Calendar time! Thanks to my lovely spouse and son who put together this year’s selection.
First up: Goblin Mode from Ohio’s Hoof Hearted Brewing. A hazy double IPA coming in at 8% abv. Warm citrus scent, well-rounded citrusy hops. Nicely done!
