In breaking news, we're just hearing that an extremist faction of artists who prefer the medium of watercolours - Just Stop Oils - have damaged a Shell petrol station.

< These are the results on general purpose paper from Clairefountaine. The results are similar to the thinner marker-paper from Canson.

I used a dip pen instead of fountain pen.

I tested Carbon Ink, Write & Draw and Noodler's in fountain pens.

Well, here are the tests with general purpose paper and layout marker paper. I don't use markers, so I don't know if the quality of the marker paper is adequate.
Tested: Copic Ciao C-1 (alcohol-based), Ecoline BrushPen #580 and Winsor & Newton Water Color Marker (both water-soluble).

There used to be bargain bins full of VHS tapes of cartoons sold at grocery stores. I learned, as an adult, that I watched a lot of dubs of old Soviet animated movies from these bins as a kid, and they were gorgeous, particularly ones by Lev Atamanov. A lot of them are on YouTube!

On twitter around this time every year I spent a day boosting independent artists so people could buy stuff for the holidays. Bluesky's smaller, so reply to this with your OR someone you know's art, a link to buy it (VERY IMPORTANT) and a pic of the art! Hooray let's SUPPORT INDEPENDENT ARTISTS!

When you make master copies of old artworks, how do you deal with discolouration? Do you include it? Or draw the painting like you think it might have been originally?

i'm the world's laziest artist cause i hate the 1/3 to 3/4 of the painting slog. if i do it in one setting, okay, but to finish it the next day? pfffff

What is the best app to use for scanning artwork to your phone?

(I use Android but lets make this thread useful for everybody)

I am a hypocrite, but it's both boring and funny how people follow different cliches per medium

gouache beach sunsets, colour pencil lime lips, oil pastel rose bushes, watercolour flowers, pastel pencil pet portraits, ink macabre creatures, graphite dark & broody portraits

I bought pastel pencils a year ago and absolutely hated them cause I could not work with them. Today I wanted to practice more classical drawing and they were the closest tools I have to trois crayons. Turns out I actually like them now??? Huh how did that happen
