I’m finding it amusing that Americans are saying “it’s negative 12 degrees” when Canadians say “it’s minus 12 degrees”.

We are seeing incredible acts of solidarity today in Minnesota and across the country.

The next days and months and years will require this from us — and demand our courage. Be prepared.

We keep hearing that Congress isn’t doing anything, but it’s good to know some Reps are on the ball.

In their violation of the 4th Am, ICE agents will run afoul of the 2nd and someone is going to shoot them when they invade a home. This regime is willing to have ICE agents killed by people defending themselves. They are probably counting on it, so then they can call it an insurrection.

All the damage that DJT is doing to US and international institutions is being allowed by other powerful people because they believe they can make more money from it. Government institutions are non-profits because they provide a common good that everyone should have access to.

Even after yesterday’s “speech” which observers said was bonkers, and the tweet-storm overnight, Congress won’t act because they believe they can still benefit from having him at the helm. They don’t care about what he is doing nor the damage done, because they think they still benefit.
Re: Greenland, the US Congress still won't invoke the 25th because they don't think it's bad enough and/or they feel like they can still benefit from this president and the corrupt system they have allowed to be in place. Things are not bad enough yet for them to act.

Sharp points from @polphilpod.bsky.social on the basic error that centrists made in overreacting to meaning of Trump 2024 win. Dovetails w/my argument that folks didn't appreciate the latent solidarity with immigrants felt by many ordinary people (see below)

HIERARCHICAL THINKING

The “superior” believe that the “inferior” will take advantage of concessions to their disadvantaged position to get stuff they should not deserve. They believe this, in part, because they would do it themselves and cheat the system, given the opportunity.

Drop what you're doing and listen to this. Even the Fed story is about how we construct reality and for whose benefit.

In the US, conservatives have been the ones to yell about their 2nd Amendment rights. But now is the time for everyone else to talk about them too.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

ICE raids are not the first time this was made explicit. I think people downplay how much Jim Crow was not just about controlling Black people but it was also about controlling white people. If you thought racism was dumb and acted that way you could end up with a bomb in your home
Just keep coming back to the fact that keeping people in a constant state of terror is a form of mass disablement and essential to the eugenic project that is the United States.

It's interesting that DJT says he will attack Iran the state, because Iran is killing its protestors. At the same time, ICE (representing the state) in the US is attacking and now killing protestors. What will DJT do when someone finally gets fed up and shoots an ICE "agent"?

This is good, that DOJ people are recognizing what their jobs are.
NEW: Top DOJ officials quit after their division refused to probe Minnesota ICE shooting - At least four leaders of the Civil Rights Division resigned because the section's head, Harmeet Dhillon, decided not to investigate shooting of Renee Good.

Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.

AND DON'T FORGET!!
All the time we are distracted by the dog and pony show that is Trump, billionaires are dismantling the government so they can buy it up, privatize it, and make more money from what used to be your right as a citizen to receive.

They hate Minnesota because we are a people who believe that "we all do better when we all do better."

Minnesota is one of the wealthiest, safest, and cleanest states in the country *because* of our openness and generosity.

Our quality of life is a direct challenge to their zero-sum worldview.

I'm sharing because people need to know what happening. I rarely watch these vids, because I find them so upsetting. But we need to know what people are like and what they're doing. I also pray that citizens don't fight back with violence because that will give them an excuse to escalate.
I think it is probably a bad idea to put clearly unhinged, angry psychopaths in federal law enforcement positions.

Everyone in the international community must start calling the US a rogue state, and impose sanctions like we used to do with rogue states. And use their use of force internally (like with ICE) as further proof of their direction into dictatorship.
GERMAN PRESIDENT STEINMEIER:

“.. the United States has broken with the values that it helped to establish ..

“.. we have now moved beyond the stage where we can lament the lack of respect for international law or the erosion of the international order; we are far beyond that, I believe.”
