Late 50s and just starting to realise things about my brain. I find group exercise stressful. I thought that’s because it hurts (no dramas, just EDS). Yesterday traffic made me late so I ended up in the corner (like cubby-hole). Most chilled I’ve ever felt in a class. Reduced stimuli!

Tad jaded this morning and only just at my desk. Worth it, though - went to see Othello at the Haymarket last night. Toby Jones’ Iago is skin-crawlingly villainous. Magnificent.

I was the first in my entire family attend university, and I have a big family. I did it at 28 and noone understood how it worked at all. I was the first much later the first get a masters and hopefully soon I'll be the first PhD. After me I helped my sister go, did my brothers forms.
In the UK

75% of ppl with graduate parents attend higher education

42% of ppl with nongraduate parents attend HE

It therefore appears that the social class gap in well paid jobs is primarily driven by different HE participation rates. If more working class kids went to HE, earnings gaps wd narrow

The sizing change on Vinted is mind-blowing stuff. Twice as hard to shop. I’m searching for 20-22 (because there isn’t an 18-20) and it’s showing me things labelled 14.

Not all school students will go on to Higher Education, but I'm telling you now that the huge SEND increases schools and colleges are seeing are already translating into huge increases in HE.

Today is #RLSDay which marks the birthday of the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson who would have been 175 today.
It's also a good day to remember that it is NOT actually his birthday because in 1891 he gave it away to a young girl because she didn't like her birthday. 🧵

Infuriatingly, I missed an imaging appointment today. I was sitting in the hospital but no one told me I had been booked for it. I was told I had CT and merrily went to it. Apparently, an hour later I was booked for a different one.
I’m afraid my crystal ball isn’t working today.

My 2s for labelling debate...

Get your/your child's needs met without a label? Good luck. No chance. Even medically we have SWAN children.

Extra needs -> extra supports -> extra resources (including time)

Even for DSA you must have evidence.

Anti-labeling debate is rooted in privilege.

I’ll take an hour’s break and finish the shirt I started at the weekend…

I’m back at my desk now.

The best neurodivergent inclusion can be kinda invisible.

It’s going somewhere and seamlessly being able to use my AAC.

It’s being given time to process options, or make a decision.

It’s spaces with careful lighting + noise design.

Solving little day to day barriers so everyone can thrive :)

I wish I knew more about sensory needs and how it overlaps with things I can do.

It took literally 5 years to work out that my ability to understand & do things can be entirely flattened by the wrong sensory environment.

Eg, Can’t get dressed in a loud room. Can’t read if chair has wrong texture

Morning. I’ve woken up to a white striped patio. Husband did some painting last night and washed the brushes/trays in our kitchen sink. Drain must have overflowed. It’s now dried on the slabs. Eeek.

Side-effect of being unable to eat on the right side since June is weight gain. All my usual healthy snacks are crunchy or chewy. Pappy, seedless, soft things are low risk from a pain perspective. Diabolical for my hips!
Finally have my referral through and first hospital assessment next week 🤞
