I'm social about sports, and not much else...usually. But catch me on a good day and I'll go off on an assortment of randomness. Good luck.
Pretty view tonight in NE Kansas. Third time in 18 months!

My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

It was ugly, but a near double-up fourth quarter saved the Wildcat women in an absolute slog of a 46-44 win at SMU.

Nastja Claessens led the way with 8 points, 11 boards, and 4 steals. Gina Garcia also had 8 points. Taryn Sides pitched in 7.

Mark Simoneau, Chris Canty, Jeff Kelly, Terry Pierce, possibly Nick Leckey, Quincy Morgan, Michael Bishop.

These aren't guys Snyder coached up. They were lit.

Part of this, of course, is the fabled JUCO pipeline. Snyder did grab top-tier guys who hadn't qualified straight out of HS.

Then things went south. He wasn't grabbing 5-stars, but he WAS grabbing 4-stars... most of whom completely washed out due to their own egos. K-State fans will recall one Nick Patton.

And I think it's because the star system gave guys a sense of where they "ranked" which hadn't existed before.

But this is a thing I really want to correct for the record, because it gives an extremely inaccurate picture of what things were like at K-State during the peak of the Snyder rebuild.

Those teams were not scrappy walk-ons, folks. Snyder was recruiting studs... UNTIL the star system.

here's the first video on the new channel, it's about the team that ACTUALLY invented the Tush Push years before the Eagles, so you can appropriately thank them or yell at them depending on whether you think the Tush Push is good (correct) or bad (wrong)

Great to see Dana Dimel (and Kellis Robinett!) get some well-deserved recognition.

Some intros for the uninitiated:
9 pts for Taryn Sides (you already know her)
9 for Izela Arenas (yes, Gilbert's daughter)
9 for Jenessa Cotton (stolen from Duke)
5 for Nastja Claessens (she's from Belgium)
5 for Tess Heal (she's an Aussie)
5 for Jordan Speiser and Aniya Foy (they're true frosh)
How's the post-Lee/Sundell era looking for the K-State women?

They're up 50-9 over Omaha at halftime and NOBODY IS IN DOUBLE FIGURES YET.

This is crushing. Decades of cool uniform stuff nobody else covered, gone

I remember thinking the internet would be better at preserving work than the pre-digital age, and it feels increasingly clear the opposite is true

For the first time in nearly 18 months, there is power IN my house.
(I went ahead and hooked up the fireplace outlet because it's the only thing on its circuit)
Lots still to do, but a big milestone.

4th-and-3 at the K-State 34, DESMOND PURNELL blows through the line and sacks Daniels, forcing a fumble recovered by Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder.

Cats ball at their own 42.

You can blame @mattbrown.bsky.social for this one. (Or Tim Derdenger, but he doesn't appear to be on BlueSky.)

The conventional wisdom about what the portal and NIL would do was wrong from the start. A study now backs it up, which gives Jon a reason to opine at length.

(Go read Extra Points, too.)
NIL is increasing competition (just like we said) | Bring On The Cats
Back when this all started, Jon argued against the conventional wisdom. He was right.

But I do know what Jesus taught about every human being having a spark of the divine and being worthy of the love and respect that comes with being in our enteral family. Even the unpopular ones.
