This is the correct explanation of what happened tonight👇
KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business.

-if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her.
-if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet.
-instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.

Justice Jackson says the supermajority once again does not "understand the assignment" in emergency applications. The crux: the government has not shown it will suffer irreparable harm in the time in would take for the issue to be fully resolved by the courts in due order.

I keep hearing about undocumented immigrants who apparently were issued a work authorization AFTER being ordered removed. What’s going on there? Is it just administrative incompetency issuing work authorizations in error, or is there something else that allows that to occur?

About 60% of U.S. workers are not white men. Wouldn't know it from Trump's Department of Labor.

Are we still supposed to pretend that neither bigotry nor misogyny are key to Trumpism?

Federal Judges— or staff, but same-same— used "AI" to summarize & draft rulings, issued them w/o checking the work, leading to basic factual errors, & thus undermining the facticity & validity of the rulings entire.

Two federal judges say use of AI led to errors in US court rulings
Two federal judges admitted in response to an inquiry by U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley that members of their staff used artificial intelligence to help prepare recent court orders that Grassley called "error-ridden."

Fuck ICE, fuck Donald Trump, fuck anyone who voted for him or couldn’t be bothered to vote
Just got an email from my son's school. Because of ICE activity in our neighborhood, they're forced to do indoor recess and dismissal.

Fuck ICE.
FYI, ICE is trying to kidnap people in Lincoln Park right now.

"they've always been like this" is always a tempting savvy take but it is just not true that Republican staffers were 100 percent open Nazis back in 2004, or hell even 2014. they just weren't
there have been a lot of responses to this arguing that young Republicans were motivated by such feelings but didn't express them openly

and I think a crucial lesson of the Trump era is that there is great value in people not expressing these things openly! that's a big and decisive change!
For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.

That’s why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren’t radical enough.

This is key to understanding the FedSoc Supreme Court: the facts do not matter. They will invent their own reality and substitute it for the reality we're actually living in.
Kavanaugh recently suggested immigration stops are no big deal if you're a legal resident bc ICE just promptly releases you

That is not, in fact, what ICE does

He invents a fiction bc the reality of the policies he supports is too disturbing for him to imagine

This morning a friend in Chicago who just happens to be from Texas had a threatening note left on her car accusing her of being ICE/Nazi and telling her to “get out.” Presumably, they assumed she was one of Trump’s Texas Nat’l Guard goons. But doing this makes you as bad as Trump. (1/2)

Nobody cares about the victims in the Dallas ICE shooting apparently. The first I've heard about one of them was on CNN today. He's fighting for his life in the hospital --- he was brought to the US when he was 13. He's 33 now. No criminal record.

I just don't know what to say anymore.
