I’ve been busy since December tracking a basket full of 35 grocery items each month at four Chicago stores since Donald Trump’s reelection.

He said he won on immigration and groceries.

But the cost of my basket keeps going up. (1/3)

Supermarket super-pain: Trump's campaign promise to cut food prices falls short
The Sun-Times has been tracking prices for 35 grocery items across four stores, since December. We found most stayed the same or increased, with our shopping cart's total price rising by up to $11.

The march is now parked in front of Trump Tower.

Still very taken aback by the number of people out tonight, given it's below freezing, dark and the last weekend of the Christmas season.

ICE is making four-times as many untargeted, street detentions as it did during the first Trump admin.

And Stephen Miller is demanding many, many times that.

Already, most of those arrested have no criminal record.

Belatedly, this line from Weiss' memo is...something

Let's get someone who says banishing to CECOT was legit, she says

Here's the thing: There's a consensus among legal experts that *wasn't* legit

You can find someone who says moon is made outta Fluffernutter. Doesn't mean you should quote 'em

You do everything in your power to get every relevant voice in a story. But as one of my former colleagues told a local official who thought his silence would kill a piece: “I’d like to have you. But the story is being written with or without you.”
Reporter: We have 3 videos, 2 breathalyzers, 4 bartenders, and a minivan full of nuns attesting to how the driver was drunk and reckless when he hit the school bus.

Weiss; What did the driver say.

Reporter: He and his lawyer won’t talk. We asked them 5 times.

Weiss: I’m killing your story.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Listen to Mark.

The president of the United States claims this was all because of HIM, and then he brags about how great he is.

We have become numb to how bizarre this is.
If the New York Times was waiting for a news hook to write a long-overdue story about how Trump is mentally unfit to be president, Trump has provided one today with his post saying Rob Reiner got murdered because he was mean to Trump.
Write it, NYT. End the normalization. @nytimes.com
