"Dit spruitjesland moet de blote werkelijkheid over vrouwenrechten eens in de ogen kijken" Emma Curvers in de Volkskrant, over hoe pro-life ook hier geniepig en stilzwijgend aan de poten van zaken zaagt waar alleen vrouwen over zouden moeten gaan..

This is REAL CLASSICS done by REAL CLASSICISTS. Look what they have been demanding your respect for all this time. "Hello I would like 'et plus Cd K Mi Ob Pd Pe Q Vcul] at plus Cdul: hac plus Pdul: ha' poetry, please?"

They have played us for absolute fools.

Lead moveable type for printing used to be stored in large wooden drawers in cases.

Capital letters (or majuscules) were stored in the UPPER CASE.

Miniscules were stored in the LOWER CASE.

This is from a publisher's review backend, but this should be just.. you know.. generally available, for life. Just wondering where the feedback would go in that case. Somewhere between dev/null and higher deities, I suppose?

Fair's fair: it was up again in fifteen minutes.

Well, not to put a finer point on it…

Okay, I'm not going to whine a lot, but still a little. I'm in Lisbon for #DH2025. But currently I'm in bed with the cold that I apparently attracted at #IMC2025 last week. Bummer. Scrap today. Retry from start tomorrow.

Such a shame to find "//TODO: to be implemented" about a very nice feature in my own code.

Got into some good trouble yesterday at the #handsoff protest here in St. Paul! And of course I had to make a quilt sign! I’m calling this one “2025 Required Reading”

Journalists should be insistently pointing out that tariffs are controlled by Congress, and they can revoke the President’s authority over them—and lots of other things!—the moment they grow a spine.

The abject gutlessness of Republican legislators is the real story here.

Century+ duration electronic data preservation is in fact an unsolved problem, but magnetic tapes set read-only are as close as we have right now. This is a massive, active research problem at Amazon, Google, Microsoft, others. www.microsoft.com/en-us/resear... Some tape can be replaced, not all.

I think the Orange Monster is planning to go short on the world economy.

Absolutely delighted to announce that my second book has just been released (and it's open access; free to download at the link below!).

The Destruction of Medieval Manuscripts in England: Institutional Collections
Abstract. It is generally accepted that the contingencies of manuscript survival have disproportionately destroyed some sorts of manuscripts and not others

For a next with far less pain: as soon as you feel any sign of attack, take 400mg of Ibuprofen and double up 6 hrs later. Repeat until cured. (Usually just a day, or two, if you're in time with treatment.) But talk to your GP first! There may be reasons why you should take Colchicine instead of Ibu.

Nope, those novelists weren't lying. I feel your pain, having gout as a returning 'friend' myself. A load of NSAIDs will get you through, or barring that for any reason, a load of Colchicine. They didn't prescribe you anything like that?

There is hope: anti-vaxxers only need 5 years to finally catch up with 140 years of science and research. How hopeful for the world is that?!

Some chains should take an example from Bike House Coffee in Valladolid, Mexico 😁

I merely wanted a strawberry donut..

It seems Putin's lapdogs were not very well received by President Zelenskyy..
ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?

VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media

Of natuurlijk de helft als je zo'n *nutsvoorziening* nationaliseert.

I hope it will be a wonderful workshop. Maybe I'll be joining at some point still. Currently I'm in bed with a inflamed knee-joint 😟 Seems my workshops are cursed for my attendance this academic year 😕

More or less equivalent to my current sentiment regarding world events…
Trump is now an aide in Russia’s regime change plan for Ukraine.

Europeans need to act NOW, not after the German elections, to make sure Ukrainians have an alternative. All the worst came true and there is no other way to put it than that the US is in Russia’s team now.
Trump snaps back at Zelenskyy, blaming Ukraine for the war
The Ukrainian president has been excluded from the administration’s negotiations with Russia seeking an end to the war.

**Usage:**
"The weeks he spent waiting for news of his missing friend turned his life into a situtatuon, each day a test of his patience and resolve."

- The concept is explored in T. L. Greyson's philosophical treatise, *The Stillness Imperative*, where he argues that every human occasionally encounters a situtatuon, which he defines as "an essential pause, embedding the seeds of wisdom."

**Examples in Literature:**

- In her novel *Echoes of Silence*, J.M. Kellaway uses the term to describe her protagonist's long vigil by the seaside, a situtatuon that leads to a profound transformation in her understanding of time and loss.

2. In philosophical contexts, a state of being that involves contemplative inertia, often leading to an epiphany or significant change in perspective.

**Etymology:** A blend of "situation" and "statue," suggesting a scenario requiring stillness and patience.
