Note for Democratic politicians: you don't have to start your condemnations of ICE raids with "We all want to catch violent criminals, but..." Just say "These raids have nothing to do with catching criminals and everything to do with terrorizing innocent minority groups."

Another wrinkle: the foreperson told the magistrate the grand jury voted on the 2nd indictment.

We now know they didn’t.

The foreperson was probably just confused.

But it does raise a question — would the magistrate have accepted the indictment if she’d known the truth?

The Cavalier Daily, UVA's student newspaper, hasn't had a single FOIA request fulfilled since *July 1*. This is flatly illegal. Senator Deeds shared UVA's FOIA response with the newspaper, which allowed them to do this reporting.

A university requiring their state senator to FOIA records is dumb. A university taking far longer than the legally allowed time to provide that response is real dumb. A university charging their own state senator $4,500 for those records is self-harm is basically a cry for help.

My state senator, @creighdeeds.bsky.social, could not get answers from the University of Virginia (which he represents) about the ousting of President Jim Ryan, so he FOIAed them, for which they charged him $4,500 and took one month and four days to respond (five days are allowed by law).
State Sen. Creigh Deeds received his FOIA requests from U.Va. — here’s what we learned
After submitting a six-section Freedom of Information Act Request to the University Sept. 18, State Sen. Creigh Deeds, D-Charlottesville, received 284 pages of records Oct. 29, pertaining to former Un...

LLMs give people with delusional belief systems a way to organise those beliefs. The model fills in gaps, supplies connective tissue, and wraps the madness in formal language.
It doesn't make the claims more credible to us, it just tidies them up.

The backstory to the Tom Holland lip sync is such a repudiation of slop. So much human effort and skill and *rights clearing* went into creating something so many people love.

Many state GOPs are signaling that they are not on board Trump's autocratic project -- a great piece of data for those of us worried about the survival of American democracy.
The Indiana State Senate rejected President Donald Trump’s call for a special session to redraw the state’s congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterms. The move preserves Indiana’s current map and represents yet another rebuke of Trump’s national gerrymander push.

That comedy festival fiasco was the most glaring example. How did you think that was going to go? Everyone claps and cheers at how normal you are now, because you got Chappelle to whine about woke while you publicly behead apostates?

The best publicity you can get is no publicity, man. Give it up.
