Way back in the day, Danny Baker described 'the internet' (this was the early-mid 90s) as, "being like going through the phone book asking each number if they like Batman".

Anyway, who here likes *waves arms* ... stuff?

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

What comes through in a lot of the emails is how much they hate - really hate - women and girls.

It's as if they hate the fact they're so enfeebled by their attraction to those they perceive to be cheap, dispensible totty, and project that hatred onto them.

I am watching my second basketball game of the evening.
At some point, I will stop being surprised by how much I enjoy basketball.

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

This feels like peak infantilisation of the elderly.

What exactly is ‘disgraceful’ about giving the elderly/infirm practical advice about how to be physically intimate in a safe way? They aren’t children. Their innocent eyes don’t need to be protected. Plus it’s medical guidance not a jazz mag

I reckon a shared national popular culture is just as important (if not more important) than a fact based, impartial news service for liberal democracy to work.

The shortest day of the year in Iceland is 4 hours and 7 minutes of daylight on 21st December. That's still enough time for a whole T20 match or two innings of the West Indies batting in Tests.

There was quite a lot of emotion

Hastings go three-up in double-quick time and then hang on to beat Beckenham 3-2

I have completed the 'Survival' level of Icelandic Online.
This means, should I be stuck in Reykjavik, I could tell someone that my coffee machine is broken and that I would like more red wine.
I think the makers of Icelandic Online really get my priorities TBH.

Stuck on Miami-SMU. There are many issues with the impersonal nature of the DAZN coverage but getting to see games like this is fun.

England need to swallow their pride and ask to be involved in the Pacific Championship in Oz in 2027. We can't keep hosting three Test series. We either whip Tonga/Samoa or are embarrassed by Australia.
Time to go where the real action is.

It's as if things like property are so unaffordable that it's a bit of a non-starter and you might as well have some small things to enjoy.
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”
