Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Thank you to whoever leaked the fact that some Dems considered caving. That is not an option. We all want the government open but we need ACA subsidies officially extended. Pen to paper. Nothing less. Period.

NY Dems need to wipe the slate. We've finally put Andy Cuomo behind us. Now is the time to refurbish our Senate Seats. Like, you know, NOW.
If they cave, every single one of them face protests and public abuse every single time they show their face. They shouldn't be able to eat out at a restaurant, give a speech, go on vacation, or really anything other hide from the public in their home or office.
John Fetterman, Angus King, Maggie Hassan, Dick Durbin, Jon Ossoff, Jeanne Shaheen, Kirsten Gillibrand, Catherine Cortez Masto, Mark Warner, Cory Booker, and of course Chuck Schumer. Maybe others not top of mind. Not all responsible will publicly vote for the cave - that's not how this works.

If this is correct, Booker, who did such a wonderful thing standing up in the Senate, has now written himself off as a candidate for higher office. He's finished. None of the rest of this crew was going anywhere anyhow. But Booker . . . . Why did he do this terrible, stupid thing?

Absolutely gutless.
But also, you know, stupid.
TIME FOR NEW LEADERSHIP IN THE SENATE. AND I MEAN NEW DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP. If this is all true, Schumer and Durbin have to go. They're finished. I am absolutely disgusted.
If they cave, it reinforces my sense that the real problem with the democrats is not “wokeness,” but the fact that they don’t stand for anything and are willing to fight for nothing.

It’s worse than being useless; it is collaboration.

Mitch McConnel's singular political insight is that Presidents get punished for Congressional obstinancy and he used that insight to get the Right an unbreakable majority on the Supreme Court, so of course Chuck Schumer's iteration on it is to proactively let democrats take blame after tangible harm

@audacityofdespair.bsky.social If the news tonight is correct, Schumer has got to go. It's being widely reported that Schumer has caved to Trump and his minions on reopening the Government.
If this is the case, Schumer, Durbin and Jeffries all need to go. NOW. What pitiful creatures they are

Republicans vote to kill.

We are a center-left country with a democracy problem.
This is a damning anecdote from Rep Jim McGovern. He tells me that during debate over Trump's big budget bill, House Rs privately admitted to him that it would screw over their own constituents, yet they had to vote for it anyway.

Read all of it. He wrecks them:

There’s no way this new Qatari plane can be made safe for a US president on any sort of timeline that Trump would okay. He will 100% compromise US (and his) security.
Once a foreign government can openly give the president a half-billion-dollar plane as a personal gift, there’s no red line left between a democracy and a full-blown kleptocracy. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/corruption...
