This thread 🧵 about how Christian the US is at its core. We non-Christians notice this every day, in many ways.

It’s also important to note that the thread would have the same meaning and relevance if it was “white people” instead of “Christians”
Christians are allowed to say in any environment what they believe with certainty, whereas anyone else can state their beliefs, but in a qualified "this is what I believe" or "As a [blank], I believe."

I do not want to buy what I need online. I want to buy it in a store. I live in a fucking city. I should be able to go out and get 90% of what I want/need in my city. I should be able to go out and get something right after realizing I want/need it.
Let’s air those grievances. I want to hear your pettiest gripes on this the holiest of days.

I wonder what % of people in the US are mass shooting survivors?

When I was 14, I was on a crowded tourist street when someone on a rooftop shot at least 6 people, some only yards away from me.

During grad school, there was a mass shooting at my university: 6 students, faculty & staff were killed.

It’s possible that Matt Shaw is naive to Kirk’s & TPUSA’s racist, sexist, anti-education, anti semitism beliefs, and his white Christian supremacist bigotry, all cloaked in the facade of ‘free debate’; but if he is, that’s his own fucking fault and he deserves to be roasted for it
Making a decision to participate in a political movement that's anathema to many Americans — including a large percentage of Cubs fans — only ensures that Matt Shaw will remain in the spotlight in 2026.

AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone

- tech is now more expensive
- you cannot trust most media of reality anymore
- programs barely function
- energy prices
- literal psychosis
- your voice can be literally stolen for evil
- more spyware

but hey, you can avoid paying an artist.

The municipal police have another problem too. A study from a few years ago found that police were the sixth leading cause of death for Black men in the United States. That means Black men have a greater risk of being murdered by police than being killed in an actual crime.

For every thousand forcible sexual assaults, there are - I'm serious, there's data on this - eleven convictions. That's right, 11 out of every 1000 forcible rapes result in a conviction. And of those, between three and four are wrongful convictions.

WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

Finally, there’s social media discourse about a subject I know extremely well (typeface design & history), but most of the conversation is so inaccurate & opinionated, I can’t even begin to respond. So I just stay out of it. It’s a good reminder: Experts’ voices are often minimized on social media

The clear fact that he’s so obviously lying about how to best raise real babies, in order to promote his other “baby,” makes this all the more frightening.
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

Jeff Kent did not like Barry Bonds, he reportedly took Bonds front seat on the team bus to show him up, spoke badly about him behind his back to the media numerous times, and fought with Bonds verbally and physically. I don’t like Kent, never did, and I’m disappointed he was elected to the HoF.

Non-Violent Resistance Training is happening in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, New Orleans, and many other cities; likely nearby wherever you are. Check it out. Learn how you can help.
Crowds are showing up🔥

Brooklyn and the Bronx both hit capacity as New Yorkers train to protect their communities from #ICE and stand up for their neighbors.

More trainings are coming, and a full weekend of community action is set for Dec 12–14.

please read this thread 👇

this, or something similar to it, is daily life for many people in America. it’s heartbreaking, and the only way to stop it, is we have to be strong like Sheryl; stand up to it, call it out, change our own behavior, do the hard work, make people stop.
I feel guilty even saying this because honestly, I'm incredibly privileged. I'm white, I have a law license, I have a roof over my head and I'm married to the love of my life.

But I'm so tired.

One indication of how contrived and meaningless Spotify Wrapped is; is that my most-listened-to genre is a genre I have never heard of (AOR) and didn’t know what it was until I looked it up. And I’m still not clear about what it is. But thanks anyway, Spotify.

Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.
