Going to have to ask my Navy uncle about this. His favorite drinking buddy was my grandfather, his father in law, who was an unpaid guest worker to the Nazis (in other word, a slave)
I imagine everyone of dreaded Boomer era has similar story:
-My uncle fought in Battle of Bulge, vs Nazis
-My future father-in-law was in submarine, vs Nazis
-My dad was in training as Navy doctor, to fight Nazis

Now MAGA/Trump/Hegseth: "Who are we to judge?"

U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

Today, November 20th, is Trans Day of Remembrance, a day meant to honor the memory of trans people who were lost to transphobic violence. We remember and mourn for those we’ve lost, and will continue to work towards a world without transphobic violence.

How many American mayors are willing say that their city has TOO MUCH parking?

Kudos to Spokane's Lisa Brown for clearly stating the problem, and championing a progressive solution!
Our downtown has way too many surface parking lots. In my proposal, we exempt student, resident and employee parking and give a substantial credit for structured lots.
An upcoming ordinance, if passed by city council, would tax surface and garage parking lots. Funds would go to transportation projects like street and sidewalk maintenance. The ordinance is scheduled for a final council reading on Nov. 17. Read more here:

In Denver, we’re letting right-wing billionaires who live behind gates and high walls decide how we use public spaces. Years of planning and community input down the drain because a man who inherited his business and wealth knows best.
A proposal to narrow the Alameda from four lanes to two directional lanes has been dropped.

Mamdani's line that billionaires spent more to oppose his candidacy than he proposed to tax them really says it all.

Like a company that shuts down a profitable location as soon as it unionizes. The principle of maintaining control is more important.

With all the empty downtown buildings and over crowded Denver suburban Costcos, I hope we can have one of these
And the thing that breaks many a brains - a Costco underneath a building right in the neighbourhood (terrible picture but you can look it up)
