While watching the 5th season of Stranger Things I noticed this extremely nerdy anachronism: it refers to the Sorcerer class in DnD, but that class was added in 2000 and the show is set in 1987.
What other nerdy anachronisms are there? I'm thinking comic collections with issues that are too recent.

I recall some quiz show that openly mocked contestants who answered in the form of a question, what show was that?
The response should be phrased in the form of a question, as per the rules, but the word Trebek always used, anyways, was “response”

Growing up I moved a lot (as in multiple countries) and people used to tell me I was lucky to have that experience. Which I was! but it did mean I have no roots anywhere and now I basically have no friends.
there is absolutely a loneliness epidemic but it's not just for incels and it's bc NO ONE GETS TO LIVE IN THE SAME CITY AS THEIR BESTIES ANYMORE and that's bc of CAPITALISM

Related to this, I'm pretty sure I've benefited from white privilege over my own (Korean) mother. As in, someone was being subtly racist to her, and then they perked right up at white-looking me.
I am, in fact, a white millennial man, and I’m on the old side so I’ve been a one for longer, and even as a kid the preferential treatment I got over my Black and Latine classmates was so overt it made me uncomfortable. I have never, even once, been discriminated against for my race or gender.

god I already knew my mom could be an ICE target, but it's still depressing to see official confirmation. She's a US citizen, but ICE will still detain her because she's a Korean immigrant.
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

A not-insignificant part of why I built an arcade cabinet with my kids was so they'd understand how it works. I definitely hate how "hands off" tech culture has become, and very much support movements like "right to repair".
