I’ve often noted my belief that out of all societal systems industrialized countries have tested so far, #Nordic #SocialDemocracy is, if not the best, then at least the least bad.

Despite all its very real flaws and shortcomings.

Here’s one BIG reason: Social #Democracy makes us free.
I wrote this from personal experience almost 8 years ago (!!!). Still think it holds quite well.

Even if #Finland ‘s current right-wing government is hell-bent on reducing our real freedoms, by dismantling what’s left of our greatest achievement: the welfare state.

Beware of fossil fuel enthusiasts touting the latest IEA report and its supposed forecast of endless demand growth for oil.

The devil here is in the details -- ones that tell a very different story than the headlines would have you believe.

What the IEA's latest report says about the energy transition — and what it doesn't
The International Energy Agency's latest landmark report looks like an act of surrender to the Trump administration's fossil fuel agenda. But when you look closer, a much different picture emerges.

I suspect there will be a lot of people lashing out at the Carney government over the MOU that's been leaked today.

I'd encourage them to read this first. The biggest hurdle in the way of a new oil pipeline to the west coast, by far, has yet to be cleared.

The biggest obstacle standing between Alberta and its premier's repeated pledge to double oil production isn't the tanker ban, the emissions cap, or any other piece of federal legislation. It's realit...

TikTok, in a nutshell! (And, we all let it happen!)
Insane data from Germany shows how social media is geared towards more fringe political views. The left bar shows the share of uploaded videos by party on TikTok and the right bar shows what videos are shown in the feed. Social media loves the extremes and is NOT a fair mirror of reality.

The UCP government created and championed the Citizens Initiative Act as a fundamental part of our democracy - giving citizens the right to launch petitions and recall elected officials.
