Las dos son maravillosas. HACKS es una de las mejores comedias de los últimos años. Al fin ganan sus más que merecidos Emmys. Una de esas series en las que te quedarías a vivir.

Why is it so hard to imagine a world where care is free, universal & unconditional? Because the current system teaches us that care must be earned, health is a private matter, and dependence is failure. Health Communism traces the roots of that lie and how people have fought it.

Whenever marginalised people use nonviolent forms of protest to make the case for rights and basic levels of dignity, they are framed as angry, unreasonable, scary, etc. to discredit and distract. This method seems to convince liberals every time, no matter how aware they are of previous cases.

This 83-year-old priest has just been arrested for holding a sign which read:

“I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”

According to Starmer’s new law, this puts her in the same category as an ISIS or Al-Qaeda terrorist, with a prison sentence of up to 14 years.

"Believing that autistic people deserve the right to a good life would require a lot of people to interrogate the way that they see the world, to interrogate their ideas of normality... and a lot of people don't want to do those things" - Author Jodie Hare interviewed by Prof @sugi.bsky.social

Labour seems set on imposing what I've called neoliberalism's privatisation of eugenic responsibility: instead of enforcing mass authoritarian eugenics, the world is made increasingly unlivable; welfare necessary for life is cut; ensuing deaths are then framed as caused by the individual's choices.

This country is awash with money. The very rich are rich beyond imagination. So when Starmer wants to stay within his arbitrary fiscal rules, who does he decide to take money from? The very rich? No, from people with disabilities who depend on benefits for the bare minimum of a decent life.

You don't get pip without a fight. Someone at the DWP once told me that my son might "recover from his cerebral palsy". You don't get LCWRA without a fight. These people aren't scroungers. WTF is wrong with this "Labour" government?

Autistic woman wrongly locked up in mental health hospital for 45 years, in long term segregation for 25.
The NHS Trust 'said at no point had the care it delivered been brought into question and the service was rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.' Hmm.

Basic, unsexy sh*t that’s been lost but would make a massive difference for us as patients:

- Day centres
- Volunteer work without DWP pressure
- Community rehabilitation teams
- Having the same careco for more than a year
- good supported accommodation

All I can think of is Leonard Cohen singing 'There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in' and how pertinent that feels to Lynch's art and spirit. He was such a bright, warm soul. A balm for a cruel world.

I cannot express how strongly this argument for language use to help neurodivergent people is an effective way forward. And this book - Autism Is Not a Disease: The Politics of Neurodiversity by Jodie Hare (@versobooks.bsky.social) - should be read by everyone to, if nothing else, gain perspective.
