Isn't it lovely how busy everyone suddenly is on the back of the foster carer retention crisis?

Holding conferences.

Having consultation events and press launches.

Making money.

Morning.

I'm waiting with baited breath for the next big announcement for foster carers.

You know what it's going to be?

Teleportation devices or time travel equipment.

How else could we function in MacAlister's brave new world?
February 7, 2026 at 8:25 AM
😡 Why do these people keep up the deceitful behaviour?

Claiming that " the cost of living crisis is cause of the retention crisis" implying that an increase in remuneration will fix things.

I've just seen this post on Instagram by an independent fostering agency.

I've no idea if their foster carers feel well supported by them, however as they're not an IFA who appear to be on my radar maybe that's a good sign.

It's been another very busy week supporting our members all over the UK.

We've had a number of great outcomes for fostering families and I have no doubt that our presence in meetings leads to fairer treatment and better outcomes.

🚨Wow.

Here's another massive flaw with the DfE grants for foster carers scheme.

We've been approached to support a kinship family caring for their grandchildren long term.

They've been living in an overcrowded situation for years. The local authority have agreed a grant for an extension.

How can these two things be proposals from the same Government?

On the one hand we have the Worker's Rights Bill tackling zero hours contracts, harassment and unfair dismissal.

Morning.

There's been a lot of focus on social media issues in the press again.

It's hard for any parent to stay on top of their child's social media use.

This is a sad reality for foster carers too which led to the tragic death of foster carer Marcia Grant.

For foster carers there is an extra layer. When they are left alone and unsupported to deal with child carer violence the risk of it being turned into

From the man who has been actively blocking the voices of many foster carers over the past few weeks.

Having enough bedrooms isn't the only or main consideration for how many children live with a fostering family.

How many different school runs can be accommodated?
December 29, 2025 at 10:16 AM
It's incredibly disappointing to watch the current Children's Minister actively silencing the voices of foster carers.

Comments from foster carers are being removed from his social media posts.

Merry Christmas from all of the team at FosterSupport.

Christmas can actually be a really difficult day for fostering families. I don't think that is something that most people understand as the fostering advertising sells the idea of happy children enjoying Christmas with a new family.

Private equity curse.

Company on Burnley bought by PE to cut staff by 90%. Loyalty counts for nothing.

Typical PE business model - cut staff/wages, high debt, asset stripping, price hikes, sweat assets, profit shifting, tax abuse, extract high returns, move on to the next victim.
