#TheRip sadly is no Training Day! And while it admittedly builds up suspense quite nicely for 3⁄4 of its running time it unfortunately blows its landing in the final quarter descending into quite a simple generic actioner instead of the much cleverer thriller we'd been teased with. 📽️🎞️

Released #OnThisDay 40 years ago. First installment of the #IronEagle films. Sure it's no Top Gun by any means. But despite the ludicrously silly plot and a fair share of jingoism it must be said that it's still surprisingly entertaining 80s romp. Unfortunately the sequels are quite dire. 📽️🎞️

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

The cave entrance is in the mid distance with two figures standing looking out towards a distant ship. Between them and the ship there is first a 'beach' of ice before the sea itself. The ship could be up to 800 metres away What makes the photo so special is that where the figures are at the cave entrance there is a band of very white snow and ice (contrasting with the comparatively dark inside of the cave) that creates a stark framework in which the men and the ship are captured. It is made even more dramatic by the fact that the cave entrance is at least 30 metres high and is in the shape of a distorted elipse with the tail sloping off to the right at the top of the elipse The photo being in monochrome in a largely white environment makes the photographers skill all the more laudable

#RedNotice was baffling. 😕 I did not get bored watching it, and even though it has enough elements that should make it work, there's just something about this hotchpotch of a heist film, buddy cop action comedy and Indiana Jones-esque globe-trotting adventure that ultimately just doesn't work. 📽️🎞️

🪖 I think my expectations for #DerTiger were too high to begin with since I read someone compare it to Das Boot. So no wonder really that it ended up being a bit of a disappoitment in the end. 'Cos it most certainly ain't no Das Boot, or even Fury in my books! #TheTank 📽️🎞️

IF you know me it might surprise you how few Robert Ludlum novels I've actually read. Still I kind of liked #TheHolcroftCovenant more than I probably should've. Which is mostly down to just Michael Caine's performance. Delivered more than a film like this would've required. 📽️🎞️

⚔️ I must admit that the ONLY reason why I bothered watching this was Brigitte Bardot's (albeit brief) appearance. And while fans of sword-and-sandal movies would undoubtedly get a kick of #HelenOfTroy I must admit that I didn't find myself warming up to it despite it being epic enough. 📽️🎞️

This sucks but I think non-Americans being justifiably angry at Americans for what the American government is doing and threatening to do, and Americans experiencing that anger and frustration personally in ways that are unpleasant, is probably an important part of any path back to stability

🌴 Even though #TheLostCity admittedly has its moments I'd still say that as far as romantic adtion adventure comedies go you'd be better off watching Romancing the Stone or even The Jewel of the Nile. UNLESS you fancy Sandra Bullock and/or Channing Tatum. Or Brad Pitt. 📽️🎞️
