This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

Having grown up on Friday the 13th movies, I’m amazed “let’s add red neon under lighting to his mask” never came up
A growing body of evidence suggests that using infrared light can spur cellular changes in the body that may reduce pain, improve skin, sleep and mood.

But before you buy an infrared light device, know that the scientific evidence is not all in yet.
Infrared light is touted for many uses, but science to back them lags
Before you plunk down hundreds of dollars for an infrared light device, know that the scientific evidence is not all in yet.

2025: The season somebody had to win the Super Bowl 🤷‍♂️
Me: “I really feel like there are no GREAT NFL teams this year. Maybe, just MAAAAAYBE, the Rams.”

The Atlanta Falcons: “Yeah, about that.”

Agreed 👍
The only time I think soup is an acceptable dinner option is when I’m sick. Other than that, strictly a lunch option. I will not be taking questions at this time 😂

We’re apparently executing Schrodinger’s National Security Strategy
Foreign Policy Analysis is low key the darkly funniest field ever now. Are we at war? Does the president himself know? Who are we at war with? Why? Something to do with drugs and/or oil? We’re either invading Venezuela, Nigeria, neither, or both.
Either Trump believes the US struck a Venezuelan facility on Christmas Eve because he was told that erroneously, or he's conflating different stories, or we actually did what he claims. Regardless of explanation, we need that information.

Especially (as I learned climbing Kilimanjaro this year) if you’re going straight up ⬆️
There is no better cardio than putting weight on your back, leaning forward, and walking at a brisk pace.
The infantry also found that a recent exercise broke their collective stamina badly, led to articulable cognitive faults, so they’re going back to long runs / marches and improved cardio training.

Sorry, Internet Experts on War, you can’t hide from fatigue. It’ll kill you as sure as a 82mm mortar.

The first rock band I ever saw play live was Quiet Riot. Before the show, my buddy & I stopped at a nearby 7/11 for gas and the band was inside buying beer, Slim Jim’s & a pile of porno mags

Pre-internet was a helluva time 😝
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

An enemy-centric attrition strategy—which is what we pursued the entire time, McChrystal’s strategy document notwithstanding—was never going to work even with infinite resources.

I explain why this was so in a lot more depth in my book on the history of #counterterrorism in #Afghanistan which should be published in 2026

At one point while working at CENTCOM (circa 2008), I created a plot of violence directed at foreign troops against the number of those troops. The result was near perfect correlation. The more troops we added, the more violence there was

No one wanted to comprehend the implications of that finding
What was really needed was a few hundred thousand. 100k on the border, and another 150k in the cities and villages.

Its ironic that Obama could've used the GFC and 20% unemployment to get all those recruits, tax the crap out of the oligarchic class, and win the war we never should have lost.

If you could wave a magic wand and make one annoying cultural trend go away in 2026, what would it be?

For me, I think it’d be people using speaker phone for calls in public settings 😠

Issa Rae has canceled her sold out performance at the Kennedy Center. Pulitzer Prize winner Rhiannon Giddens, Peter Wolf, Low Cut Connie, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., have also canceled. Lin-Manuel Miranda has canceled the entire Kennedy Center run of Hamilton.

This article ends with a banger! Worth a read.

"Still, it is hard to ignore the most fundamental dilemma laid out here. If intelligence is both un-American and necessary, one must conclude that the United States can never truly live up to its ideals."
