Tech bros and oligarchs and fascists push these horrors because it benefits them *whether the tech is actually effective or not*. It literally doesn't matter if it actually works as long as we all think it does. It's through this lens that we should think about AI, ad targerting, face rec, etc.

I have a forgetful child but the last thing you can do is remind him

me: "hey 11yo, don't leave your coat there"
11yo: "I wasn't GONNA, I'm just taking my socks off first"

Any parent reading this already knows that had I said nothing, there's a 100% chance he woulda left his coat there.

I honestly have tried to read this meme twice and can't get to the end of it without getting distracted. Who formatted this? Why would you do it this way? Can you pick a single font?

The spectrum of MSM has become "full-on fascist propaganda" on the right to "boy I wish we could go back to pretending we were good people" on the left. Anybody actually advocating for good things to happen can go start their own newsletter.
This is a remarkable @nytimes.com split screen:

A huge 3,526 word + photos profile on Sen Britt who "can't stop thinking about the boy ICE detained"

But Rep Jaoquin Castro- who actually got Liam Ramos out of detention & back home- gets no interview, no pix, just 116 words inside a story. WOW.

I think the band I was in was playing a show that night, which is incredible because in 10yrs I think we played like 5 shows (probably why I remember the date). It was great. Tons family and friends music and having a great time, definitely a better night than getting turned down for the pedo party
Name them
shame them

Trump used to have this phenomenon where if you read his statements they'd be completely nonsensical, but then if you heard the clip, it was easier to parse what he was going for. That has now changed. No idea what the fuck he's on about.
Trump: "I didn't get 250. I tried to claim it a couple of times. I said, 'I produced 250 year anniversary. It was my deal. I got 250 years.' And the press hit me hard on that one. So I gave it up immediately ... then they rigged the election."

Okay Bezos makes $70m a day, and according to Bernie Sanders, Elon has earned $500 BILLION during Trump 2.0?

I'm not saying I don't believe these numbers, but, I think we need to rethink how we calculate wealth or something because I, simply, do not believe these men have that much Actual Money
Jeff Bezos’s wealth has increased an average of $70 million every day of 2026, meaning that he could have offset The Post’s losses with what he’s made since Monday.

Did I eat ice cream for breakfast? No.

Is it weird that I asked that if the answer is no? Also no.

Am I ashamed? I wouldn't be even if I had eaten ice cream for breakfast. But I did not eat ice cream for breakfast.

I've started getting emails from associates I know personally that are very conspicuously Chat GPT generated and while I don't think everyone has the ability to pick up on it yet, it has a style distinct enough that eventually everyone will, and I think it's gonna be a problem for the LLM's.

My cousin works for a grocery store and told us one time a guy started hawking the store's Christmas outside the store to people in the mall for 5 bucks and keeping thr cash. He'd even bring it to your car! Thats just called spreading Christmas Cheer in my book

Its gotta be NOFX's "We Threw Gasoline On The Fire And Now We Have Stumps for Arms And No Eyebrows"
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

Maybe this story has societal value. I'll never know because I'm not clicking a story with that fucking headline.
📢 “A huge amount of men between the age of 15 and 50 will not pass on their genes. They will effectively die out of the gene pool ... Should society intervene?” Steven Bartlett asked last year.
Two top podcasters have identified a global decline. The problem, they say, is women

Canadians: if you go to the Service Canada website there are tools that will let you file for free, or pay-what-you-can. I used one last year, it was painless and cheap (I chose to contribute a bit). Easily the smoothest filing experience I've had (albeit my taxes aren't complicated)
americans: whenever you see a turbotax advertisement, never let yourself forget that turbotax and companies like it are WHY we have to file taxes like we do in the first place.

Erskine-Smith is gonna absolutely mop the floor with Doug Ford
Busy day in Ontario politics: NDP deputy leader Doly Begum resigns to run federally for federal Liberals (oof for Marit Stiles, big oof); Nate Erskine-Smith announces he'll run in the by-election to replace Begum in the provincial legislature and will contest the Ontario Liberal leadership race.

I read thousands of pages of Epstein files this weekend trying to understand what he wanted out of his meeting with 4chan's Christopher Poole. Here's everything we know about Epstein's plans to dismantle the internet and, eventually, democracy.

Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."

After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc

Obviously I don't intend to rank the horrors of the Epstein files and say who's better or worse; I will only say that there are guys who bring a certain creative flair to their specific brand of evil.

My toxic grammar trait is I often don't bother with the final period of a paragraph. I don't feel it's needed. The paragraph's over; if you can't figure out that it also means the sentence is over I dunno what to tell ya.

Memes can look messy and simple when theyre handdrawn and still be beloved and effective, no need to drain a lake to have a computer do it with no soul or personality at all
moral and ethical concerns aside THEY ALL LOOK LIKE DOG SHIT

have some damn self respect people
leftists sharing ai memes are doing everything wrong

People who write the spec sheets for cars should skip horsepower or torque or whatever and get straight to the things we need to know, like whether the windshield washer fluid reservoir is bigger than the bottle of washer fluid you buy at the gas station.

Note to self:
I have 3 axioms that help me decide when to talk to people I disagree with:

1. To debate a subject is to concede that the subject is debatable.

2. To reason with a person is to concede that the person is reasonable.

3. To ask for evidence of a claim is to concede that the claim might be true.
