Republicans are able to win because they make a pretty clear majority of voters. The racial polarization in the Deep South is insane. Gerrymandering and voter suppression are part of the equation but not all of it.
Alabama’s population is 28% Black and increasingly Hispanic. White Republicans are only able to rule by cheating. And when Dems invest no money in red states that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy

I think 2028 has an excellent chance of a candidate no one expects.
Hot take maybe, but I think most of the candidates being talked about right now (including Newsom) are a bit overrated as far as 2028 goes.

there's a school of thought says this wouldn't be a big deal for Rs because in this scenario it's just a bigger House majority and they'll get it back in future elections anyway. I think this is wrong for two reasons:
1) no guarantee Latine voters come back to 2024 level
2) incumbency advantage

It would be pretty funny if a D-tilted environment coupled with trying to dilute D votes by gerrymandering them into heavily red districts resulted in a much bigger blowout than if they hadn’t gerrymandered
