you cannot stop something the government does when you control no part of the government, except by means outside that government. the most effective possible means of stopping it would be to utterly, credibly capitulate to the demands of four (R) senators and three representatives.
It's pretty stunning how much the Dems fear-mongered about project 2025 the past year to get campaign donations yet didn't come up with even an iota of plan to try to stop it if they started implementing it.

The answer to most of what is causing angst online and off is that people have been driven completely insane by the last decade-plus, that’s pretty much it

Is Pythagorean expectation still a relevant way to think about NFL games in 2024? Does it mean anything that the Bucs played the Panthers close? #nfl #databs

Have a cool thing going on at work: I’m learning the intricacies of a domain that I’ve been working in for 4 years. Previously, I’ve never needed to know the lower level details. We’re at a point where this information is what moves the needle for our business. Fun!

Then it hit me: The big success of the US right over the last decade or so, helped by a cadre of centrists, is convincing a lot of people that the Democratic Party is whoever you think is the most radical, most annoying person on the internet. Therefore, voting Republican is a vote against them.

I need music recs!

Looking for:

- rhythmic
- well recorded/produced (bought new speakers which I’m enjoying)
- if it has vocals, they can’t be weird or flat… yes this is a hard to describe thing but I couldn’t get past Geordie Greep’s voice

Metal, soul, pop, electronic, any genre

Bought $90 bucks of chocolate and candy for trick or treaters

Definitely better than last year… we were new to the neighborhood and ended up handing out Fruit by the Foot.

I showed some kids how to eat it properly and enjoyed making a fool of myself

My biggest data problems are

1. Data Wrangling - lots of edge cases, owner-less data feeds, lack of timeliness + silent failures, etc.

2. Prioritization - today’s problem is not tomorrow’s problem and is not yesterday’s problem

Does #dataBS have any insight?

Data-fluencer tweets vol 1:

- data work is best implemented as an apprenticeship

- data people tend to like data because “facts” but politics and influence play a huge role in career/job/project success

- learn to count things, have a mental model, and figure out how to validate

you aren’t actually required to waste time talking to people who are interested in nothing but being impressed with themselves for having the moral fortitude to sit
on their ass instead of doing the absolute bare minimum thing required to make the future somewhat less horrific
simply blocking everyone who thinks voting for the Democrat makes you evil, it is very relaxing
