Hanson was a Liberal in the Howard mould. He said nothing about Hanson and only started putting her last as a tactical measure (not a pushback on policies) after the 1998 Qld election scare. He embraced her polices - which were variations of his One Australia platform
Just your regular reminder that John Howard never pushed back against Pauline Hanson and One Nation policies. He embraced them, which is how he outflanked them, while also setting the stage for what the Liberals are today. The myth that he 'pushed back' truly needs to die.

One of the best ways to combat How Everything Feels Awful Right Now is to do something on a regular basis that helps others directly. Whether you go out and volunteer at a soup kitchen or stay home and volunteer for a helpline, those actions create hope & make positive changes feel attainable.

Regarding the article by Amy I just reposted, I've actually been asked why I never went in to politics by people who know me well.
And I have looked into it. But, I am an introvert. To do the job well I need to be able to talk to and listen to the electorate. Fight in parliament. I don't have that.

Beware the new 'normal', it might be about to bite us
Some people just like power. Those same people enjoy sowing seeds of discord that they never have to actually solve, in order to keep it.

I did exactly as poorly as I expected!!! But at least I knew the winner. I didn't listen this year as I was setting up a party and decided to listen to something that wouldn't make me angry or scream SHOULD HAVE BEEN HIGHER. Still mad playlunch didn't claim the top spot.

My new "hobby" is tagging the PM and Labor party on videos of human rights abuses, atrocities, and flat out fascist behaviour from the USA. I would love to see more Aussies get on board. It's also fun sending articles to ministerial emails. Anyone know Penny Wong/Richard Marles' handles??

When I wrote about Project 2025 in April 2024, literally all I was asked by mainstream Australia media was to “prove” the link to Trump. Very few took the answer seriously. But *all* of this was observable and *could have been planned for* by allies of the United States.

Racism is so entrenched in Australia that when someone throws a bomb into a peaceful protest, of 2000 First Nations Peoples and their allies, that we call it unacceptable instead of what it actually is, terrorism.

Recognising 26 January as a day of invasion is not about division, but about respect, honesty and connection.

It is about acknowledging the truth that sovereignty was never ceded.

This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
