Ännu ett bra exempel på varför en stark public service är viktig, och vad som händer när man lägger en nationell mediemarknad helt i händerna på den privata sektorn. Alla medier, oavsett kvalitet och historia, är i händerna på ägande och vinst.

NYT confirming MS NOW reporting:

Prosecutors began investigating Renee Good's killing, then Washington told them to stop.

Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Good's vehicle, but Trump leaders said to drop it. About a dozen prosecutors have since departed.

A while back, I wrote about the deprofessionalization of the FBI. Christian Gläßel and @ascharpf.bsky.social study how authoritarians build loyal security forces. They pointed to a sense of impunity being a key factor. That is what we are seeing now.

I vårt avsnitt av @mediespanarna.bsky.social just efter att Good hade dödats diskuterade vi hur sjukt olämpligt det var att Trumpadministrationen varit ute med påståenden om det inträffade innan utredningen ens hade inletts. Vi trodde ändå att USAs rättstat skulle stå pall. Det gjorde den inte.

I’m sure nothing suspect was going on here, just as there was nothing at all dubious about the way the national press screamed hateful abuse at the main opposition party in unison until it put Peter and his friends back in charge, at which point they became extremely friendly and laudatory
