Really important I get this on here:

There have been reports of DHS sources saying they plan to deploy four times as many agents here in March. Whether that's accurate or not, I think we all knew that if they opted out of the deep winter in Chicago, they'd be back after the thaw. We need to synthesize what we've learned and prepare.

Bovino and many of his agents are headed to another city. Reports indicate that Charlotte and NOLA are upcoming targets. But there will still be ICE attacks in Chicago, as there were before, and we need to remain responsive. We also have a lot of deep prep work to do, bc they will be back in force.

begging people to actually read the story about Ketanji Brown Jackson issuing the SNAP administrative stay before ranting about the Supreme Court Did It Again

I think what is happening here is that Jackson is doing the 48hr pausing so the First Circuit (hopefully) declines to place a stay pending appeal (which would be a longer stay) and then the Court will be in the tougher position of delaying SNAP for a longer stay period.
#BREAKING: Justice Jackson has issued an "administrative" stay, temporarily pausing a district court order that would've required the USDA to continue using contingency funds to pay SNAP benefits.

The stay expires 48 hours after the First Circuit rules on USDA's request for a stay pending appeal.

BREAKING: Starbucks workers have just authorized a massive strike.

Union Starbucks baristas voted to authorize the strike by 92%.

Now baristas in over 25 cities could launch an unfair labor practice strike on Thursday, November 13th.

But it shows that he understands people’s pain points.

Twenty minutes to sit down with your family or hang with your friends or practice the oboe or work on the next great American novel?

It’s a slice of possibility.

For all that people are bemoaning that Mamdani is radical, the central issues in his campaign are actually relatively small.

“This bus will be fast and free” saves people a few dollars and twenty minutes every day. This isn’t huge; it’s concrete and imaginable.

A focus on kitchen table issues has to look like: I understand how you’re struggling, and here is how I want to make your life better.

And the answer HAS to be something other than “well that guy will suck worse.”

Saying “we have to keep the status quo because the alternative is bad” ends up making people feel like you’re either gaslighting or out of touch, because the status quo actually sucks for a lot of people.

It’s going to look different in every place. It doesn’t have to be Mamdani. But a focus on kitchen table issues doesn’t mean just shouting “this other guy is gonna make your kitchen table issues worse!”

It means having a vision for a better future.

I really don’t understand why it’s so hard for certain people to understand that Mamdani is doing so well because he is advocating for more than “keep Trump from taking the few good and/or semi-decent things that remain” and is articulating a real vision for how to make New York better.

Dabo Swinney has officially hit a breaking point. Clemson's head coach absolutely loses it on his defense, which has given up 28 first-half points to Duke... at home.

The people who complain about SNAP have never had to actually use SNAP. The shit isnt easy to keep or get or use, its not fun or the lap of luxury to be on welfare, especially the more disabled you are(which are who tend to be on SNAP)
Here is a comprehensive list of why people on SNAP, are on SNAP:
1. They need food assistance.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

seriously! a small tattoo is, like, $200! if you're a poor person, believe me, as a person who has spent most of her life poor: the gap between what you *need* and what you *have* is almost always a lot more than $200. that's, like, maybe a month of that gap. drop in the leaking bucket.
It annoys me when people say “they’re on SNAP but their hair and nails are done and they’ve got tattoos”. It’s extremely normal to do your own hair and buy press on nails, and tattoos literally last forever. What do tattoos someone got 10 years ago have to do with them needing to eat now

If you make 130% of the federal poverty level, you qualify for SNAP.

A family of four, making $40,560, qualifies for SNAP benefits meaning thousands of Missouri teachers qualify.

I’m tired of the bullshit. Most of the people who receive snap benefits work.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you have friends struggling through the shutdown, consider inviting them over for a family dinner this week. Make too much. Insist they take leftovers home. Some folks can't say they need help out loud but will appreciate the kindness.

1) we’ve had the productive capacity to produce food for every living person on this planet

2) we have the logistics to deliver these to every person on this planet

3) we have ideologies and philosophies to know that’s good

That we don’t is a choice. And a moral failure.
