She/her. Germantown, TN-Omaha, NE-currently *Nashville.* I’m bi-regional! MNPS parent. Voted Dukakis in 2nd grade election, no regrets. Bad sleeper. Cars are the worst: obsessed w/ sidewalks, bike lanes. Obsessed with TN history, especially Nashoba.
Vibes, baby! That’s how you run a really solid state education system! We don’t need to know if millions of tax dollars are flowing directly into the accounts of rich parents who have already been sending their kids to private schools for years!
Tennessee House panel kills private-school voucher transparency bill

“The most important data is that parents know what’s best for their kids. And if they want a scholarship, then they should get one,” Gov. Bill Lee said.

For Mississippi voters, the situations I'm asking about are:
a) You used the online polling place locator tool on the Secretary of State's website to look up your polling place, but it sent you to the wrong polling place or the wrong address
b) Your precinct changed and you weren't informed.

One of the most important things we need to be educated on is how billionaires profit from prison slave labor.

So many corporations rely on it for their precious profits. The more people in prison (especially private prisons) the better for them.
Prisoners in the US are part of a hidden workforce linked to hundreds of popular food brands
The Associated Press found goods linked to prisoners wind up in the supply chains of everything from Frosted Flakes to Coca-Cola.

tomorrow i would really like to challenge a few folks with larger followings than me to adopt a rent and raise it in one day.

my little group chat and my followers have paid like 70 families rents in the past four days. i believe that some of y’all could help us keep one family housed.
today's report:

our "adopt a rent" venmo campaign paid 43 families rents who were at risk of evictions, including several moms of 4+ children

this is the way to get rent paid fast. like. 1000x better than any other way.

Fascism wants you to believe that you are alone. That you are isolated. That the feelings you have are yours and nobody else has them because everybody is too afraid to speak.

But love is stronger than fascism. Community is stronger than fascism.

I’m going to lose my mind. Less than $4 million for the entire state is going to get us some tree removals and a Costco box of trash bags.

Can’t read more comments saying people in the south deserve to die in an ice storm because “you voted for this.” We have right wing controlled state houses & many horrible reps in Congress. Learn the meanings of these words and ponder them in your hearts: Racism, disenfranchisement & gerrymandering.

There is whole lot of hate in these comments for regional politics.

It’s important for folks to understand the worst damage in TN is in Nashville. Hundreds of thousands without power for days on end in very cold temps.

Nashville is a reliably blue city. We asked for aid. It’s hasn’t been approved.

One cool idea would be for every resident to chip in a little bit—we could call the money “taxes”—and then spend it on things like “infrastructure” instead of billionaires who want to build stadiums or move their headquarters.

One of my most cherished classes is my 18th century novels course where the primary learning objective is "learn how read long novels." We did a "couch to 5k" approach to attention span and note-taking.
My hot take about the “students cannot read whole novels / watch whole films / etc.” is that they can learn to do it. None of us are born with attention spans suited for long media. It is a learned skill and can be developed with practice.
