It's not just "consumer smart" it reduces environmental waste, key materials are often mined in slave conditions. The whole tenor of the article is wrong - why is the economy so dependent on us engaging in mass waste?

Is it that time already?? (Yes. Yes, it is.)
When I read a compelling logline or hear a “It’s THIS + THAT” that piques my interest, I will not hesitate to contact the writer and ask if the script is available to read. But wh…

the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.
it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable

There is a post circulating on Bluesky encouraging the moving of a frozen turkey straight into a pot of hot oil. We are combating this misinformation the best way we know how - through the power of dance music.

Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

Text to my manager: Can we schedule a time to talk the first or second week of December? Would like to go over strategies for ‘26

Mgr: Yes, 2026 will be your year of being seen, fully.

Me: Thx. Hope so

Mgr: No, 2026 IS your year, brother.

And what does the science say? It is clear. We must phase out fossil fuels not for the sake of the planet, but to ensure a livable future for us all. And "all" includes the inhabitants of those countries who prevented this phrase from being included in the final agreement.

One year my dad roasted a bunch of Cornish game hens (one for everyone? They are small — can’t totally remember) and my extended family flipped out and just wanted “normal food” after that. He also made pumpkin soup in tiny carved out pumpkins, so… (It was all delicious, they were wrong.)
In a great moment for mankind, after years of effort, I have convinced my American family to abandon the turkey and opt for a bird that actually tastes good for Thanksgiving this year
