hey, elected officials? nobody who says anything like revamp or reform or rehabilitate or retrain ICE has my vote. i don't want ICE 2.0. i don't want "hurt and terrorize and murder and abduct my neighbors but in a more socially acceptable way." get them fucking gone and maybe we'll talk

I can’t emphasize enough how shocked my out of state friends and family are when I tell them what has happened in Minneapolis since Renee Good’s murder.

Without reliable media, most not-chronically-online people are completely in the dark. If you want to help Minnesota, tell people what you know.

I was trying to help a friend get her mind off something and told her about the time I got my hair caught in the velcro of one of my wrist braces and she laughed so hard she fell off her bed and sprained her wrist which was a distraction so I did a great job there 😭😭😭

If only there was someone who could do something. Like an official? Responsible for the city? I dunno, someone like that.
Frey: "You cannot drag pregnant women through the snow. You're not allowed to take teenagers out of their car and detain them when they are in fact American citizens. That is against the law in every state. That is against our US Constitution."

This whole list is good but this is the key: they are coming to your town too, the time to organize is now not once they touch down.
5. Start getting your own community ready.

Meet your neighbors. Form Signal groups. Distribute whistles and organize trainings on how to be a legal observer. (There's probably an organization close to you that does stuff like this.)

We’ve been trying to tell y’all for years.
MN police unions released a statement in support of ICE. They are not going to arrest any of them.
Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.

I just watched a video of this woman talking about how she burned her actual butt from a pot pie and I may never stop laughing because WHAT DO YOU MEAN

If they don't, what happens next is on Democrats, too.

Hold the perpetrators accountable or give ICE permission to summarily execute civilians at whim.

These are the stakes.
So @governorwalz.mn.gov, MN needs to prosecute *now*

Everything happening now has a precedent. This is not new. Please understand that everything happening now is very American. The only change is that it is happening on camera to middle income white people. Ask BIPOC and low income white people about abuses by the state.

I am very tired of hearing white people say that government agents murdering someone and refusing to let anyone help and then blatantly lying is "so Israel." no. it's American. can't y'all even pretend to be aware of how your own fucking country treats us? for one day?

This is literally what they do whenever a Black person is killed by police. No matter how solid the evidence is, they will keep pushing that lie, not just to poison the conversation and make sure the killer walks free, but to reassert the political idea that these people deserve to be killed.
The shooting is shocking enough but the government's response is off the charts when you consider that this incident is forensically documented on video.

Remember when the cops left Mike Brown dead in the street for over 4 hours in the hot sun after Darren Wilson killed him and the NYT informed its readers that "he was no Angel?"
“.. they carried her body out, just like by her limbs, they didn’t even have a stretcher," Heller said. "She was carried out like a sack of potatoes."

“This was horrific and will change my life forever,” she said. “I feel so scared."

Like those before it, that insane, vile DHS statement about the Minneapolis shooting isn't about covering anything up. It's performative lying.

They aren't trying to persuade anyone that their agents did nothing wrong. They're trying to project that their agents can get away with anything.

We should be applauding people who break rules to stop what's happening. Failing to break rules is what's worthy of critique right now. That's the stuff people should have an explanation for — and I know, some do, and that's fine, but the absolute moral minimum is supporting those who resist.

The respectability policing that goes on after cops or federal agents (who are also cops, y'all) kill someone is always unbearable. Dissecting the actions of the victim, putting them on trial when they cannot defend themselves, declaring they should have done this or that. Did they deserve to die?!
