We've got a weather warning for tomorrow for rain.
This was our local river yesterday, sounding and looking quite full and ferocious 😐
I'm sure it'll all be fine and our village is probably a safe distance from the river.
Probably 😬😂

I love it too. The funniest error was when it mistook one of my chickens for a golden eagle. 😆

I love the Merlin bird app. but it does include some unlikely finds sometimes.
This is the list from a walk this afternoon and we saw/heard them all apart from the Linnet, (possible but surprising), and the Eider, (very, very unlikely as we're not at the coast) 🫤😂

Currently at 85,000 signatures here's another #petition to sign if you're sick of seeing your #animals & #pets traumatised by weeks on end of #fireworks

Its no longer just Bonfire Night & Vets now call #Autumn 'fireworks season' 😩

Petition: Limit the sale of fireworks to those running local council approved events only
Ban the sale of fireworks to the general public to minimise the harm caused to vulnerable people and animals. Defenceless animals can die from the distress caused by fireworks. I believe that permitt...

I'm just popping by with one of the watercolour sketches I did this week. I've popped it in a mount and frame, and it measures approximately 14x11". It's a one of a kind piece and I'm asking £45 plus £5 p&p in the UK. Send a DM if interested as the shop hasn't reopened.

One thing to say: #AxeDrax

No. Cutting down trees, grinding them up, shipping them across the Atlantic and then burning them is NOT "green".

This is lovely on the most gorgeous plant. There was a brief phase of fashion in, I think 2000, of clashing pink & orange. I was on trend (briefly) then, & had a sheer layered skirt & top in those colours, for dancing in, when we could get a babysitter. I still remember it as my 'spindle outfit.'

Finished cleaning the first batch of this year's Devil's-bit Scabious seeds this afternoon 🙂
It's been so popular with the Butterflies & Bees this summer and now is a good time to sow it as it needs a cold spell to germinate 🐝🦋

Sure, I may be lazier and less competent than many other birders, but I have developed an efficient system for counting in the field:

One

Several
A few
Some
A small flock
A medium-sized flock
A large flock
Loads of

Birds of prey are an essential part of a healthy, balanced eco-system - but they face many challenges, including persecution and habitat loss. That’s why places like Argaty, and the moorland habitats at Tarras Valley Nature Reserve are so vital.

Well done #SkyNews for publicly exposing what most of us already knew. Billionaire Musk is using his X platform to undermine liberal democracy with the most extreme right wing and racist content. We can’t let this continue.

Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌

We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.

The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

This Grace O'Malley (pirate queen) castle near us has been lime washed & looks as it would in her day.
Her bedroom was at the top. Apparently she had a rope tied to her bed post & out the window down to a galley (ship) below. To be tugged in emergencies only!
