"Put your cheeks in a Beek" is a line quoted often around here. James Van Der Beek brought comedy gold to Don't Trust the B in Apt 23, an absolute gem of a show with a stacked cast. He was a star that could do it all. www.slashfilm.com/2099132/ja...

Tumbler Ridge is a small planned resource community, a winding 90 minute drive from the nearest city of at least 10,000 people.

A massive number of people are going to descend there tomorrow.

May those that arrive have respect and grace for the unimaginable grief.

I helped conveners organize a community meeting for a fifteen block area, with "Preparing For ICE" as the theme.

Less than 48 hours before the event we had to switch to Zoom.

First meeting, so no email list to notify.

And we STILL peaked at 234 people on the call at once.

People are *done*

It’s easy to imagine agents of state violence — like ICE — as uniquely evil.

But history shows, under the right conditions, most humans are capable of horrors.

It’s only in confronting that reality that we can begin to inoculate ourselves against it.

🧵“How do seemingly ordinary people become agents of state murder?” This is one of the guiding questions I ask students in my graduate class on genocide/state violence. With recent events, it is a question many Americans are asking.

I know he means that Canada is the northwestern flank of NATO territory, but I also can't help but notice that Alaska is on Canada's NW flank.
Met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Davos earlier today.

We talked about the tests NATO is facing, and Canada’s resolute support for the Alliance. We’re quadrupling our defence spending — including scaling up our investments in Arctic security to defend the northwestern flank.

Call your reps. Let them know that if they vote for ICE funding, you will not vote for them ever again.

Representatives need to feel the heat. NO on ICE funding. No excuses.
So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE.

There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it.

Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance.

24 hours. Go.
