Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

For those of you who were keeping up with the mass market mess, here is a more informative article.

Trade paperbacks cost only 30c more to make and are priced $18-20 now, where mass market paperbacks didn't sell at $12. So... there's your answer. It's about margins.

Black Cat Mystic no. 59 (Sept 1957) cover by Jack Kirby. This issue appeared a full year after the previous issue, for some reason. This is a really interesting issue, especially the story featured on the cover, which is one of Kirby’s first depictions of a mutant, 6 years before the X-Men.

After a trial over the last few years, Ireland has launched a permanent scheme giving a basic income of €325 a week for artists.

2,000 will be eligible, and successful recipients will be chosen at random from applicants, who must be "professional artists" (definition tbc).

Still decorating my old Batman shortbox, I’m going to say this end is done and I’m close to done with one of the sides; it’s a Dark Knight silhouette and lighting bolt swipe. Maybe I’ll finIsh that tomorrow! Have another side and lid to go, with no plan as yet – going to try to keep it simple.
