Oh, hey, the concept of "passive weaponry" (in the case a face-shield that could help against pepper spray) is getting some mild push-back at the European Court of Human Rights! Nice to see, even though it obviously is very little:

Oh they used to be legal to wear to protests over here. Very useful, could take a direct hit from an extendable metal baton like nobody's business. *bonk* *bonk* and zero HP lost. Fucking concept of "passive weaponry" still pisses me off.

Attorney here. Neither Minnesota nor Ohio has any prohibitions on wearing a motorcycle helmet. Ohio even specifically allows body armor as long as it's not used during commission of a felony. (Just checked Westlaw to make sure.)

Did you know that in both Minnesota and Ohio, it is legal to walk around while wearing a motorcycle helmet?
They're not bullet proof by any stretch but they can offer some limited protection from other less than lethal objects.
They will help to protect your noggin should you fall onto the street.

we so fucking desperately need an actual progressive candidate to run against her in the primary. the way things are looking right now she has effectively no challengers and is basically guaranteed to plunge minnesota into mediocrity for 4 years
It really bums me out that Klobuchar, who was instrumental in normalizing Trump as just another political adversary, is almost certainly going to be the next governor of Minnesota, a state currently paying a severe price for that normalization of fascism.
Here's all the Klobuchar v. Republican matchups from that SurveyUSA poll

Best Klobuchar lead is +20, worst is +14

there are now nine U.S. attorneys for all of Minnesota.

they're not going to have time to even indict a ham sandwich.
BREAKING: 8 more U.S. Attorneys in MN resign from Trump’s DOJ in protest as backlash grows.
This isn’t normal; isn’t routine reshuffling. It’s a rebellion.
Last month, 6 veteran prosecutors quit in protest. Normal staffing for the MN DOJ’s office is around 50 attorneys. They’re down to just 9.

there's one extremely slight but meaningful silver lining to the massive expansion in detention facilities with the OBBB funding - they'll have to reassign existing personnel, giving them even fewer agents capable of operating as they are in Minnesota.
the administration almost certainly meant to overcome their state capacity issues but it turns out they are genuinely near the limit of people who want to join ICE and can pass even the most perfunctory training. like they'd have 100,000 if they could, they will never get that many recruits

So much of this sleaze was in plain sight. When US Ambassador, Mandelson took Starmer for a photo opp at Palantir, a client of Global Counsel in which he had a huge stake. This was a monstrous conflict of interest and it was all public domain. Why did Starmer think it appropriate to go?
