I guess I'll jump on the introductory post bandwagon (welcome to Bluesky, newbies!).

I practice law during the day, write fantasy & paranormal stuff at night, and occasionally make music (links in the next post). I am also, along with my wife, slave to these two, Kalindi & Zaria.
That's right! For 2026 I'm returning to an old habit of listening to my collection from A to Z. Each day I'll highlight something from the day's listening, a favorite or something just interesting. I'll try and drop a link to the album, if I can.

Ebooks are reading.

Audiobooks are reading.

Graphic novels are reading.

Pulp reading is reading.

Adults reading YA is reading.

It's all good, my friends. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I was thinking about that with the TikTok crochet craze featuring sped-up results for an already speedy craft. I love crochet, don't get me wrong, but cross stitch and embroidery can be a 20-100 hour commitment for a comparatively tiny piece and I think there's value in that.
Books, poems, film, etc. may require retraining a brain to slow down.

And it's important bc while scrolling social media pushes the happy button, it rarely provides actual happiness. It's like food with no nutrients; your brain ate a lot but it's still starving for things that scrolling can't give.

This is a really good point that I had not run into before: these "creators" have no further insight into their alleged creation than the average audience member and that is why it cannot be called art (besides all the other obvious reasons).

It's a cryptid Christmas! I got these cards at the WV West Virginia Book Festival this fall and the wife took the initiative to get them framed for Xmas. Quite the motley crew.

Will have a squonk story coming out next year!

A lot of people are going to walk away from the Ghislaine Maxwell coverage with the impression that our prison system isn’t punitive enough but I’d say it highlights how most everyone else is treated with *deliberate* cruelty.
