Don't print lies in the newspaper
"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.

This is a point that needs repeating. It’s fiscally conservative to house the homeless, it’s also the right thing to do.
Anderson Cooper: So it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?

Answer: Yes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing… #HousingFirst

WARN filings expose 4.7k of Amazon's 14k cuts last month. 500 PMs were laid off while engineers (1,800 laid off) were hit hardest, mostly SDE IIs which refutes the "management bloat" narrative.

The trend is clear: Big Tech continues to purge junior roles due to "AI efficiency gains."
Amazon cut more than 1,800 engineers in record layoffs, despite saying it needs to innovate faster
Nearly 40% of the roughly 4,700 positions Amazon eliminated across Washington, New York, New Jersey and California were engineering jobs.

Big Oil is using native advertising to "disguise their ads in news outlets" and promote "controversial technologies like carbon capture as climate solutions, portray fossil fuel companies as climate-friendly, or misrepresent their role in the energy transition" finds author @commscholar.bsky.social.
These ads are poisoning trust in media
‘Native advertising' allows fossil fuel companies to disguise their ads in news outlets. A new book argues the practice undermines journalistic credibility.

National outlets not only didn't, they refused to. They thought it was tawdry and beneath them.
