Brewer. Red River Métis. He / him. Currently battling one of life’s least dangerous cancers, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
The Métis and the other members of the Iron Confederacy who were with us didn’t rebel. We resisted.

"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

Omega Yeast is now requiring breweries to sign licensing and royalty agreements to use their engineered yeasts. Brewers on Reddit are posting how they’ll just prop up the affected yeasts. With accounts that are traceable if not to the brewery, at least to the region.

I let my kid balance the colours in this photo of the brewery. She called it “industrial Wes Anderson.”

I guess China Mieville knows a lot about monsters.
Halloween can be a source of the imaginative ammunition necessary for socialist politics.

For socialist fantasy writer China Mieville, it’s an intuitive solidarity with those called monsters and a principled refusal to be afraid of the dark.
Socialists Must Reclaim Halloween
China Mieville on gothic Marxism, the Right’s strange appropriation of trick-or-treating, and socialists’ historic defense of the flagrantly imaginary.

Current me: I’m growing as a person. I just spent 2 days at a brewing conference where I drank no beer.

18YO me: FFS, do I even know you?

Current me: Free beer usually isn’t worth it.

18YO me: IT WAS FREE??!!!?

Season 14’s “The Beer Story” is one of the greatest fictional depictions of craft beer and brewing and culture I’ve ever seen. Hank’s rant against juicy IPAs is fucking SPECTACULAR. Love this show.

I’m going to a beer conference next week. Disappointed that the AI in Marketing session has a poll that doesn’t include, “No. My beers are works of human toil and art. Why the fuck would I debase my life’s work with slop?”
